What a Crock ~

I have shared some of my crocks before, but here they are again with my newest additions.

With the crock bought a couple weeks ago (second from the top) I now have a great variety leading to the first little landing.  All are two gallon except for the one at the very top which is a three.

The stairs leading to my second floor has a 90* turn and now I have 3 little Donaghho crocks.

Under a little table on the upstairs landing along with a sweet little chalkware kitty.

In the kitchen.

A variety in the living room.

Cracked crocks don't bother me.  Many of my crocks would have been unaffordable if they were not damaged.

One of my favorites.

And finally in the dining room.  I refer to this grouping as my cracked crock collection.  It took me many years to find what I considered an affordable bird crock.  This one had been completely broken in half (luckily not thru the front).  Whoever glued it back together did an excellent job.

That's it for the trip down crock lane.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

A Correction and a Crock ~

This rug I showed in my previous post is actually a rug by Chrisi Koehl of Rustic Eweniques, titled Crock-O-Blooms.  Sorry, Chrisi.

On our way to the hook in, we stopped at one of the mega antique malls in Springfield, Ohio.  For the most part I am not a fan of the huge malls.  They generally tend to have the majority of the items in showcases and I would rather see items up close and personal.  I did, however, find a crock to add to my "cracked crock" collection.  Nothing special and the cracks are on the bottom (I am no purist!), but for the price I could not leave it behind (even though I am supposed to be purging 😁).  This pic is the one I took at the mall.  It is currently sitting on the kitchen counter waiting for me to clean the inside.

You know I can't come home empty-handed!!!

New Old Treasures ~

I really need to stop finding new treasures!  Daily I think about purging but then come home with "stuff".

Last Friday my new sister-in-law Lyn (smile) texted me information about an antique barn sale that morning.  She could not go Friday and so I texted friend Laura who said she would pick me up as soon as she got dressed . . . lol.  I had not looked at any of the items from the sale, but Laura texted me a couple pictures.  There was this really cool pug picture and it was still there when we arrived.  How could it not come home with me?  Sorry for the angled shot but it was the only way I could avoid glare.

It is an original charcoal drawing measuring      18 1/2" x 24 1/2" excluding the frame.  Note how different a pug looked way back when.  It had a pronounced snout and much longer legs.  They have bred these characteristics out of pugs.  The flat face they are now noted for has contributed to many breathing/health issues.  Friend Julia says that itinerant painters would have part of the charcoal done and just add the head to the already completed body.

The frame is most unusual.  I am not real wild about it.  Made of wood, I am not sure how it was made.  Based on the back of the frame, it has been in the frame for some time but most likely, IMHO, not original.  It is not two separate separate frames as it appears.

Yesterday between hooking and a doctor's appointment, I had time to kill.  I stopped at an antique shop I haven't stopped at in many years.  In all my years of antiquing, I have not come across another crock like this.  It is in commemoration of George Washington's 200th birthday.  It does have a crack but a cracked crock never has bothered me.

One more item to share.  Lyn gifted me this pin drum several years ago for Christmas.

At a show on Sunday a vendor was selling pin drums she stitched and her mom sewed and I decided to treat myself (once again 😁).

Can you believe they are the same pattern, just with a different name?  I don't believe it!  Here they are side by side.  Same count linen but Mary was finished a tad smaller.

There is still time to purchase raffle tickets for this WONDERFUL rug, but it will be given away to one lucky person this Saturday.  You can get the details here.

Fun Stuff ~

Thankfully I was able to hitch a ride to my favorite antique show today 💗 .  Every year the show gets smaller with fewer dealers and the better quality dealers for the most part are no longer there.  With that being said, I still enjoy the show and managed to find some new old treasures.

This apothecary jar, not old, was filled with . . .

. . . heart cookie cutters and 4 heart tart tins.  I already had a couple heart cookie cutters so now I have an instant collection!

Hooker blocks.  At first glance, the E does not appear to be an F, which it really is.  Oh, well.

A figural Santa light bulb, silverplate sugar spoon that needs polishing and 3 sweet little pairs of scissors for display.

And yet another cracked crock to add to my "cracked crock" collection.  From the front this 4 gallon bee sting crock looks pretty good, but the left ear (handle) is broken and it has a significant crack in the back, but hey.  I'm no purist.

Also got a couple of fun, rusty pieces for my garden.  Pictures later.  All in all a good day and not too much $$ spent.

Today was a big day for DSO.  My sweetie had a big, I mean REALLY BIG, birthday.  Here he is by the hot rod he has been building from a kit for the last few years.  It was finally back on the road today after him having spent months painting it.  He is one happy camper.

Cracked Crock ~

Yesterday, Molly and I made a spur of the moment trip to one of the best antique malls around.  It was her first time antiquing.  She was my enabler for the day 😁.

This is my cracked crock collection.  (It was very hard to get a picture.  Sorry for the shadows.  It is on top of a cupboard in the dining room and the table is in the way.)

I found this wonderful 3 gallon crock to add to it.  Here she is in all her glory.  Isn't she a beauty?  The little wooden box was purchased to add a punch needle or cross stitch top.  Maybe I will get around to that in my next lifetime.

I find it most unusual that the cobalt decoration is on both the front and back of the crock and on both its "ears" (aka handles).  There is a crack running the length of the crock but it makes a wonderful display piece and I would not pay the price if it was perfect.  We're all cracked a bit, aren't we?

This is a very upscale shop with true antiques.  I must say I think this is the most expensive piece I have ever run across in an antique shop.

I have actually been trying to clean the built in cupboard above my desktop computer.  You know you haven't cleaned in quite a while when you find calendars from 2012.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Today I am back to the orthopedic doctor for x-rays.  Hopefully my very expensive boot ($291) will be a thing of the past.
