In Progress ~

I typically have one, maybe two hooked projects at a time.  Well . . . I have three in the works.  I have not taken Proud Lion out of the bag since my class in March and it's a biggie.  Here he is.

Horse by Winter Cottage is getting close.  I need to redraw the corners and I'm stumped on what colors I want to use.  There is so little color in the rug and I don't want anything dramatic.  I think I'll get some help with the planning on Monday night.

Since I've set Horse aside, I started back up on my Cedar Lakes rug that was started in a class with Cathy Stephan of Red Barn Rugs.  I've made a little progress and hope to get lots more hooked soon.

I am also binding my Scrappy Crosses rug, an antique adaptation by Polly Minick.  Since I (along with most of you hookers) despise binding, I am trying to spend 20-30 minutes a day on it.  I'm getting close.  It's the largest rug I've hooked to date at 30 1/2" x 45".

We've had several gorgeous days here on Ohio's north coast.  I've finally gotten back to yard work.  The gardens look great from a distance - lush and full, but close up they definitely need attention!  The joys of home ownership.  There is always something that needs done.

Thank you so much for all the kind comments on my last post.  You all make it worthwhile.

A New Book & a Winner ~

In April, a new book is coming out by Polly Minick and Laurie Simpson.  Two sisters, one a hooker (Polly) and one a quilter (Laurie).  They've collaborated on other books and they are wonderful.  Lots of quilting and hooking inspiration.  I'm sure this one will not disappoint.

Email Polly to pre-order.  She just needs your name, address and email.  The $34.99 (plus shipping, I presume) will be due when the book is shipped.

Here's the best part ~ ~ ~ if you pre-order with Polly by April 1st, you will be entered into a drawing for a quilt from Laurie or a hooked rug from Polly.  Now that's cool :)

I  had my trusty assistant Jake pick the give-away winner.

Congrats to Farmhouse Prims.  You have three days to contact me to claim your win.

I hope to have another give-away soon :)

Strawberry Pin Cushions & a Rug to Share

Three day weekends are wonderful, but often the four day work week about kills you.  Five days worth of work and only four days to do it . . . sigh.  The weekend is just about over, but my to-do list is nowhere complete.

It was a busy weekend.  Two cook outs (oh, the scale will hate me in the morning) and trying to get things done for the upcoming hook ins where I am vending.  They are only 3 days apart, so I need to have plenty done beforehand.  This was pincushion weekend.  I am so happy I got all these done :)

I pretty much have everything made (though I still would like to try some heart pin cushions) but now need to gather it all up, organize it, make price tags . . . and the  list goes on and on.  Maybe I will get more organized the more I vend???  I can only hope :)

Did I ever show you the Patriotic Mermaid rug (10" x 28") that was hooked by Polly Minick?  Back in June on her blog she and her sister were auctioning off items with partial proceeds benefitting Semper Fi and the Humane Society.  I now get to call it mine.  A perfect summertime rug.

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.  I guess summer is unofficially over, but by our recent temperatures, you'd never guess it.  That will change all too soon.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

On the Frame ~

Good evening, dear friends.  It is a wonderful, rainy evening here in northern Ohio.  We so need the rain.  I think I can hear my lawn rejoicing :)  On the other hand, this little miss won't be too happy when it's time to go out.  She HATES to get wet.  (Oops.  Need to wipe her eyes.)

I started hooking this sweet little rug this evening.  I swear I put in on linen a couple months ago, but it is nowhere to be found, so I drew up another one.  I'm sure I'll find the other one soon.  Murphy's Law, you know.  It is a pattern by Polly Minick from her book American Summer.  The pattern called for it to be enlarged 400%, but I did much less, though I don't remember what.  It measures about 10 1/2" x 22 1/2".  Polly's whale is white.  Mine is almost white but there are bits of color in the wool.  It is much lighter than I would normally hook, but it is a gift so I didn't want it too drab looking.

I still haven't decided on the butt spot on my cat mat.  I'm leaning towards changing it.  Kelly suggested changing it to grey, but I couldn't find a grey I thought would work.  I just posted it on Facebook and the consensus seems to be for a change.  I'll keep you posted.

Thanks so much for stopping by.
