A Finish and a Christmas Miracle?

I have finally finished the hooking on the heart hook along hosted by Saundra.  The finished size is 33" x 22.5".  I rehooked the center of the left heart and like it much better.  Of course the dreaded binding hasn't been started.

I have been a crazy Christmas decorating fool for over a week.  I have never started this early (only ever once started before Thanksgiving).  I have the BIG tree left to trim which is a major task (I always leave that for last), but other than a few piddly things, the inside will be done.  I don't do too much outside, but have that left and want to put together some crocks filled with greens.  If I can pull this off and have a relatively stress-free Christmas season, it will be my Christmas miracle 😁

We woke up to our first real snow of the season.  Maybe 2-3" ~ and schools are closed.  Seriously???  I have no recollection (I know I am old!) of school ever being closed for snow or the cold.

The view out my dining room window.

A Few Finishes ~

Winter in Ohio continues to be mild.  No complaints from me.  Last eve we got a dusting of snow.  By this afternoon it was all gone.

The four hearts I hooked with handtorn strips are D.O.N.E., sewn in to little pillows.  I backed them with the wool I used to hook them.  No patchwork backs this time.  I've shown the wools so you could see how they hook up.  Oh, how I do love plaids 😉

It's hard to tell, but the wool used on the heart on the right is reversible.

Surgery-wise, I am doing okay.  There is a bit of pain, but not too bad . . . though I am taking pain meds.  I've never used a walker before (thank goodness!) and that is causing me arm, neck and shoulder pain.  I have my first post op on Wednesday.  I am going on the assumption that all is well.  All day today I have felt like I am just spinning my wheels.  I feel I should be accomplishing miracles since I am basically sitting, but have had a serious motivation problem.  I'm hoping tomorrow will be better.

I'm Dreaming ~

~ of a White Christmas.  It is not often we have a white Christmas here on Ohio's north coast, and it has been many years since we have had a snowstorm of this magnitude.

Seven of us were gathered at my house to celebrate the day.  I know some of you may not agree with my decision to host others on Christmas Day.  In life there are no guarantees and we may not all be here to celebrate in 2021, so I was not going to miss the opportunity to spend time with the people most important to me.

The girls were all decked out for Christmas, too.  My brother brought their light up necklaces and they were content wearing them all day.

After everyone had gone home and the dishes finally done (about 10:30 ~ I have no dishwasher and choose not to have help) ~ I just walked around the living and dining area and took a few pictures.

And the saga with my Christmas packages continues.  The package traveling the farthest, 2000+ miles, arrived first.  The second farthest destination, Alabama, the package arrived today.  The package with a destination 125 miles from my house is still "In transit, arriving late".  The one to Virginia is now in Virginia.  I know there are staffing issues due to Covid, but I still find this totally unacceptable.

I hope everyone had a Merry little Christmas no matter how you chose to celebrate it.  We are so fortunate to live in this great land called the USA where we have the freedoms we enjoy.  We must never take them for granted.

Winter Wonderland ~

Molly and I have something in common.  We are not fans of winter and cold weather.  I must say, though, it is absolutely beautiful today.  Not too cold.  Just around the freezing mark . . . but tomorrow will be most unpleasant with a high of only 19* . . . but at least it's supposed to be sunny.  Just a few inches of snow so far, but one of those heavy snows that clings to everything.

Doesn't the rooster profile look like a person's face?

Happy Valentine's Day.  Love and happiness to all.

Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas ~

Merry Christmas from my house to yours.  I hope Christmas is everything you hoped for ~ and more.

We are having a white Christmas :)  It's not often we do and just a couple days ago there was no snow in the forecast.  We got a bit yesterday and we received more today.  Not enough to cause problems but enough to be pretty.  My wish is that it all melts on December 26 and the temps rise to 80*.  Definitely wishful thinking on my part . . . lol.

Ohio Pug Rescue had a wonderful day yesterday wrapping gifts at the local Barnes and Noble.  Our grand total was $1,161.85.  I think that was a record for us and can help so many pugs.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Three Hearts Down ~

. . . one to go.

Two of the hearts do not have the patchwork back.  I've just had a serious motivation problem finishing these.  I've stuffed them with snippets and a lavender sachet.

The rug they are sitting on was not hooked by me.  It is a good-sized rug that I purchased on eBay maybe eight years ago.  It is hooked very low but very even, not an import and I think I paid $25 for it.  That wouldn't even cover the cost of the wool.  There is no label.  (Labeling rugs is on my "list".)

The last heart I have to finish.  This is how I lay the wool before I start to trim.

We are in the midst of a snowstorm.  I wouldn't mind snow so much if it snowed when it was 70* :)  Wait . . . this is what my phone shows and yesterday it was 88* . . . lol.  Wishful thinking, but then everyone would complain that it's too hot.

Around the yard ~

Today would have been my mom's 95th birthday.  Love you, miss you, mom.

A Little OCD ~

My amaryllis is gorgeous.  I bought it late so I knew it would not bloom for Christmas, but it is a welcome sight.  (Plus I only paid $1.99 and it has another bud that will bloom at a much later date.)

I sometimes think I am a little obsessive-compulsive.  I didn't have a rug ready to put on the frame, so I thought I'd hook a few hearts and hopefully turn them in to lavender sachets.

They hook up quickly so I just haven't stopped. Ideally I should be in my worm bags/baskets (note plural) using what is already cut, but it is so much easier to grab an uncut piece of wool.  One of these days I need to separate them again and actually use some . . . sigh . . . one of these days.
I've even ordered the lavender, so only time will tell if I will actually make any sachets. Remember, the road to hell is paved with good intentions :)

It started snowing just a short time ago and is accumulating quickly.  I know it's only mid-January, but I've had more than enough winter.

I hope the sun is shining in your little corner of the world.
