Miscellaneous Stuff ~

I am still meeting myself coming and going, but by 8AM tomorrow I better be ready to go!

Yesterday was the Ft. Laurens Rug Hookers annual hook in.  What a class act they are!  I continued my many year losing streak by not winning a door prize nor a raffle basket.  Maybe next year 😆

The only pictures I took was of this rug but did not get the name of the hooker.  It is HUGE and she is changing it somewhat.  The pattern designer is Lois Roy and I know in the past she could be found on Facebook.  The background around the motifs is absolutely wonderful.  I do wish I could hook a background like that.

I had planned to be good and not buy any wool . . . and I succeeded, though I was gifted a 1/4 yard of gorgeous hand dyed wool.  I was bad, though because I bought this fun box from Chrisi Koehl of Rustic Eweniques.  I have a couple of her other boxes but just couldn't resist this one.

I was NOT a happy camper when I went out and watered this morning.  The da** deer finally ate my begonias . . .

. . . and my New Guinea impatiens.

Or should I just be happy they waited until October?

Do you think Harper has settled in with her new mom?  This looks like one contented puppy!  My heart is happy for her.

So what's going on with blogger?  Views seem to be returning to normal.  I went from over 6k views to "only" 4196 on my September 27 post.  My October post was down to 158.  Algorithms changed once again?

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Will be back upon my little get away return.

Yard Stuff ~

Just wanted to pop in ~ and not yet ready to share hook-y stuff!

We are so dry in northern Ohio.  I have a friend who lives almost 3 hours south and they have been getting lots and everything is lush and green.  My flowers are doing ok, but the grass is beginning to turn a lovely shade of brown 😢.  The only thing I water is the pots, wheelbarrow, etc, and fill the birdbaths.

The other evening about 7pm I arrived home to find this d*#% deer munching in my front garden.  I was maybe 20' away from her and didn't faze her in the least.

When she finally noticed me, decided to saunter over to one of my newly planted trees and take a couple bites before walking down the middle of the street to find someone else's garden to destroy.

These day lilies are very prolific and long blooming.

My dumpster dive find from a couple years ago.

Garden statuary.

The lightening rod (but not the ball) is from my parents' barn.

Abby cypress

Another day lily

Love the spotted flowers of the tiger lily.

Marly ~ here are my bubblegum 'tunias in the old baby bathtub.

The grasshoppers (or are they the crickets?) are chirping so loudly.  To me, that is the sound of fall, but puleeze, it is only mid July!!!

That's it for today!  We had some extremely hot and humid weather the last month, but when I got my electric bill today from running the A/C, I almost went in to cardiac arrest.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Frittering the Day Away ~

I have no idea where my days go.  I am busy all the time but feel I am accomplishing nothing.  I haven't started a real rug project but have been working on little hooked hearts.  I had hooked and stuffed quite a few hearts for a show where I was to vend last October ~ then it was cancelled.  I listed some for sale on Facebook and sold a few.  Then I got a couple orders so had to work on them.  Not something I really want to do, but the $$ will definitely come in handy for May's rug camp in WV.  Here are a few of them.

These were extra large bedsprings.

Here are a few I just finished hooking.  One was for an order but I didn't want to waste linen so hooked a couple extra.

I have also been wasting spending time grubbying some battery candles.  Easy but I make a mess doing it.  I made one yesterday with some cheap white Dollar Tree glue.  That didn't work because the glue easily chipped off so I removed it all and started over.  I used Elmer's without problem.  They were each done at a different time with a slightly different grubby mixture so that's why they don't all look alike.

Damn deer!  As I have said I live in the city but with woods nearby.  This one was only a few feet from the house munching away.  There were 3 in the yard.  The other day in the open field 2 houses down from me there were 9 of them, not the least bit fazed when my granddog and I were nearby.

I've also done a little more rust dyeing to use in junk journals . . . now I just need to figure out what do do with them 😁

A piece of paper that was not quite dry and tore when removing from pan.

I love the rusty keys on the left.

Coffee filters.

Leftover rug hooking linen.

And my favorite.  The lace was already coffee dyed.  I don't know why sometimes the color is just rusty . . . but sometimes it is a grey blueish color.

Our bitter cold temperatures have eased up, but now the weather guessers are predicting 4" - 8" of snow tonight.  The way they are acting one would think it never snows in northern Ohio . . . sigh.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

The Crickets are Singing . . .

. . . and the deer are voracious.  I did not use any deer repellant this year (not that any I have found work that great) and they have decimated some of my hostas.  Some they eat and others they leave alone.  I guess I have picky deer.

My volunteer sunflower is so sweet.

My pond is teeny tiny.  3' in diameter.  I bought seven $.17 feeder fish and two survived.  They started out at maybe 1 1/2" and now must be 4" long and pretty fat.  That is fish food floating in the water.  I feed them pretty good.

My only accomplishment has been to finish these pinkeeps.  Kind of pathetic, don't you think?

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Gypsy ~

Gypsy was started at Cedar Lakes Rug Camp in May.  I have pulled a few loops since my return from camp, but not for quite some time.  The wool I took to camp has never been sorted.  I should have removed the wool that was not going to be hooked in to the rug, but of course I did not.  Plus I "borrowed" a few pieces of the wool I used to put in other rugs I started.  Dumb, dumb, DUMB!  I have this entire large tote full of wool.  I really should sort through it and remove wool that will not be used.  Right now it is a hot mess.

I can't find a picture of what the rug looked like before I started hooking on it today.  I was not happy with part of the horse so I have been reverse hooking some of him.

I only have background left to hook on Fierce Lion - plus some serious work on his eyes.  I will take him to work on at guild Thursday.  No brainer hooking.

Next week the Twenty Dollar Hookers are meeting for a few days in Millersburg.  I will take Fierce Lion to finish and hopefully will make progress on Gypsy.  That will still leave me one rug in progress from a camp this year, Love Birds.  It, too, has been neglected.

I have often said I am a city dweller, but have woods nearby.  Deer are a huge problem.  It's not unusual to see them in the yard or walking down the street.  Last evening I was coming down the stairs and this young buck was approaching my bird bath that sits about five feet from the house.  I had to walk to the kitchen to get my phone and he was in no hurry to leave.

Thanks so much for stopping by.
