Rugs and Flowers ~ ~ ~

Welcome, dear friends. Thank you for stopping by!
Today was hooking day with the Metro Park hookers. It was a rather small group ~ probably because today has been one of our first truly spring-like days. The sun was shining and the birds were singing. I LOVE it!
Also, as usual, a few people departed before I remembered to bring out the camera, but I do have a few rugs to share.
This is Karin's sheep and beeskep rug. She hooked most of this today ~ amazing!
Here is a rug Carol recently finished. If you enlarge the picture, you can see that she "fringed" the two shorter sides. I'm sorry I didn't pick a better background, but you can see the detail in the next photo. It really added age to the rug ~ along with her phenomenal color choices (which I did not capture very well).
The two long sides of the rug she just turned back and stitched down ~ here's a close-up of the fringe. Oh, I've got to try this one of these days!
This is the rug Carol is currently working on. It's another adaptation of an antique rug.
Donna was putting the finishing touches on these two darling mats. I think this is an Edyth O'Neill design.
Both mats were just too sweet.
Ah, springtime on Ohio's north coast. With today's temperatures in the mid 50's, the snow is quickly melting and plant life is popping out of the nearly frozen soil. My winter aconite is so cheery.
Clumps of snowdrops are blooming.
I've even got some buds on my daffodils. I can now only hope that we don't get any more hard freezes. The daffodils are pretty hardy, but cannot take a hard freeze. It is heartbreaking when that happens!
I would like to thank everyone who left me such wonderful comments on my last blog post. Some of the comments made me laugh out loud and the others just made me feel good. Thank you!!!
I also learned a new definition for a mammogram ~ turning cups into saucers. Thanks, Linda!

Tuesday's hookin' ~ finally!

~ ~ ~ WELCOME FRIENDS ~ ~ ~
Thank you so much for dropping by. I hope you are experiencing some fall-like weather in your little corner of the world! Here on Ohio's north coast is it quite chilly ~ mid 40's. I am still waiting for some gorgeous fall colors and for our Indian summer to arrive. They are predicting warmer temperatures next week and I do hope the weather guesser is correct. It seems we went from summer to late fall. I do love the fall, but not what comes after it!

Tuesday was the monthly get-together at the Metro Parks. Luckily I was able to take an extra hour at lunchtime and get in a little hooking time. I have a few rugs to post, and to those whose names I forgot, I do apologize and next time will try to do better! Several ladies were just beginning a new rug and asked that I not take a picture until they had more done.

I think this is Sylvia's runner. She always chooses such amazing colors. Mitsuko had finished this cockscomb and just needs to complete the binding. She plans to hang it on the wall. Karin's penny rug totally done ;-) Carol's antique adaptation was phenomenal. My picture does not do it justice :( She is an amazing color planner and the colors chosen for this rug were so old looking. An Edyth O'Neill design. Another great rug that my photo does not do justice to. This rug is being hooked in a #6. Her colors are gorgeous! Andrea is also hooking her rug in a #6. I think her sheep are needle felted. Check out her blog at http://www.brightonwoolworks.blogspot.com/.(Almost) last but not least is this sweet little mat. I am so sorry I don't remember her name ( I am TERRIBLE with names), but she said she hooked once as a teenager and nothing since. She is doing a great job! I had to show you the close up of Carol's sunflower. The center of the sunflower is done using a technique called seeding. What a great look it has! The second row of yellow is done using a technique called beading. She is using two different colored strips of wool at the same time, pulling one loop in yellow and the next in brown. (Am I making sense?) Beautiful! I hope everyone is having a fun, productive weekend. I got sidetracked while trying to complete this post, and we are now at 49 degrees with sun. Almost feels like a heat wave...lol!

Hookin' at the Metro Park ~ ~ ~

Occasionally I get the opportunity to hook with a great bunch of ladies at the local Metro Park. Since it is only ten minutes from where I work, I combined my lunch hour with an hour of personal time and joined them yesterday. So much talent in one room!

By the time I remembered to get out the camera, it was time for me to head back to work, so I only had time to take a few quick pictures. Hopefully next time I will do better!

This one is all done except for sewing down the binding. I am not good at capturing the true colors. They were outstanding in this rug!

Very sweet and very near completion.
Another one almost done. So old looking!
These stars seem ready to jump off the linen.
I failed miserably in taking the picture of this HUGE Tennessee hearts rug.
The colors are gorgeous. Thanks to all the ladies for letting me share their rugs.
Hopefully next time I will get the camera out sooner.
Pug hugs :)
