Sauder Rug Show ~ the end

Rug week at Sauder has been over for a week, so I will share a few final rugs with you.  No rhyme or reason, just some of my favorites.

You can't go wrong with a patriotic rug!

I've shared Donna Hrkman's self portrait before, but worth sharing again.  Be sure to read the bottom of the rug!

Saundra . . . this one's for you.  Too bad the skylights washed out the color.

Needle felted panda.  He was absolutely adorable!

Another Main Exhibit was braiding.  Beautiful, but not something I am interested in.

Back to Reality ~

I'm home from another fun retreat/hook in!  Sue and I headed to Shipshewana for a couple days of hooking and camaraderie.  Pop on over to her blog to see the vendor booths (but ignore the last picture!!!).

Attendees were asked to bring a completed project or two to share and it didn't have to be a hooked item.  Here is a sampling of the hooked pieces.

This Santa rug got Best of Show and the People's Choice Award!  Deservedly so!

Punch needle pieces ~

The punch needle version of Proud Lion which I am hooking.

Needle felted.  This must have taken forever.  I'm guessing it was nearly an inch thick.

Lesson Learned ~

 

My little needle felting class was fun, but I am now even more convinced needle felting is not for me.  We were felting a little "love nest".  I got one heart done . . . with the help of the teacher.  I was having difficulty getting the heart's "butt crack" to be defined enough.  The heart is about 1.5" tall and the nest about 3.25" in diameter.  The nest still needs more felting and another heart begun.  This took almost 3 hours!!!  I can't imagine how long it takes to make one of those very realistic animals some people felt.  I sense this will be a UFO for a while.

Progress is being made on Rudie.  He is great fun and so easy to hook, but even his most basic face has not yet been hooked.

So far . . . 

Roosters are still mia.  Thanks for all the suggestions on where they might be, but so far I have come up empty handed.  I was hoping I had taken the rug to the hooking shop and forgot it there.  Nope.  Not there either . . . sigh.

Feeling Blue ~

Sorry I did not give a Molly update on my last post.  Thanks to all who are praying for her 💖

She is doing much better.  Walking more and more before falling over as long as she is on a surface with traction.  She has been seizure free for almost 2 weeks.  Last time she went 3 weeks.  I am praying she can remain seizure free.  She is on two anti-seizure meds (morning, afternoon and night) and never misses a dose.  Thank goodness for phone alarms.  FINGERS CROSSED!!!

Though yesterday's needle felting class was great fun, I am now certain it is not another "craft" I care to embrace.  Friend Heidi was a great teacher and very patient with this problem student 😁

Heidi's sample is on the bottom left.  Mats were hooked prior to class and the heart needle felted in class.

The long mat in the back was hooked by the amazing Deb in a 3 CUT!!!

Thanks, Heidi, for allowing me to feel blue.  I am not a pink person and the reds were just a little too bright for me.

A little pin back can be added to the small heart or a chain to wear it as a necklace.

Happy Sunday everyone.  I am not a football watcher so will not spend any time in front of the TV watching the game.  In fact, I so rarely turn the TV on (it has been months!), that I was looking for the remote and cannot find it.

More Sauder ~ but not Rugs

There was much more than rugs this year at Sauder.  There were 3D hooked items, furniture, and needle felted items.  Lots and lots of fun stuff :)
