Miss Molly Update ~

Just a quick little update on Miss Molly.  I truly appreciate all the concern.  Blog friends are the best.

Overall, she is doing okay.  No seizures since early last Friday.  Her legs still are really bad and she can barely stand or walk more than a few steps.  I took her back to the emergency clinic on Tuesday.  She hadn't pooped in 2+ days (I know, TMI 😁) and $368 later I knew there was no blockage which was good news.  Things still are not "normal" but my regular vet is back in town and I just spoke with her and she says not to be concerned.  Fingers crossed that Molly continues to improve.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Miss Molly ~

My poor baby.  On Thursday, she had a seizure, the first since I adopted her almost three and a half years ago.  I rushed her to the vet where she had more.  They sedated her, intubated her and God only know what else.  They said I could take her home, but if she had another to take her immediately to the emergency vet clinic.  Sadly, within the hour she was rushed there.  They said sudden seizures are not uncommon in older dogs.  She is 12ish.  She spent 2 days in ICU.  Here she is one of the times I visited her.  She looks good in the picture but she was highly drugged 😢

As I stated previously, Molly has pug myelopathy, hence the funny way she sits.  Her back legs are weak and they go out from under her often, especially on smooth surfaces.

She is now home.  They cannot determine what caused the seizures, but thankfully has not had one in two and a half days.  She came home on a boatload of meds (7) and two of them may be forever.  I had to make out a spreadsheet to keep them all straight.  1/2 pill, whole pill, 1, 2 or 3 times a day, certain ones with food, etc.   Argh!  After having been sedated/crated (I never crated her) for two days, she has no strength in her legs and can barely walk.  Hopefully she will regain the use of them.  Please keep her in your prayers!

I finished hooking my heart.  Now on to the dreaded binding, but it being small should not be too bad.  I would like to get it mailed off in a few days.

This just absolutely cracked me up!

Gotcha ~

Two years ago today Molly officially became a member of my family.  What a difference two years can make.  When I adopted her, she and Ernestine (DSO's pug) got along.

Now they cannot be in the same room together unleashed.  Ernestine was originally the aggressor, but now Molly is just as bad now if not worse 😢

Some Molly facts ~

~ She not only doesn't get along with Ernestine, but she hates all other dogs!  I have heard a dog with that attitude referred to as an "only".  I call her my pit pug, but that is insulting to pits 😞

~ She recently finished an antibiotic for an ear infection and two antibiotics for UTIs.  Did you know that a urine culture for a dog costs $120 and we have had three done?  Cha ching $$.  Any non-animal persons reading this just won't understand.

~ She has pug myelopathy, a neurological condition which affects the use of the back legs and a few other things we won't discuss . . . lol.  For quite some time she has been losing her balance on smooth surfaces such as linoleum, but it is now happening on carpet and the lawn.  Thankfully it causes no pain.  You can read more about it here.

She has also recently been diagnosed with a mast cell tumor, a form of skin cancer common in pugs, on her back.  Ironically, Ernestine just had surgery for the same thing about a month ago so I say she caught it from Ernestine 😁  She will be having surgery to remove it on December 13th and while under anesthesia, will also have a dental.  Once again, cha ching $$.

Molly is going to be my million dollar baby, but I love her to pieces and will care for her in the best way I possibly can.

PLEASE REMEMBER!!!
