More throw down rugs ~

Geez, I've been home from the hook in for nine days and still haven't shared a few more throw down rugs.  I am always behind on everything . . . sigh.

Saundra just posted about patriotic rugs to celebrate our great nation's 250th birthday.  You can see all the rugs she posted here.  Here is another one I love from Cathy of Red Barn Rugs.

On my hooking bucket list.  I even have it on linen ready to be started!

A very popular Michelle Palmer pattern.

A quilter/hooker's adaptation of a Gee's bend quilt.

Several hookers had taken a dip dyed geometric class from Jyl Robbins.  I love seeing all the color variations.

This rug was simply amazing.  

It was sculpted and had with embroidered ribbon from India as a border.

The scallops were pieces of wool that were stuffed.

There was much more talent I did not share.  It is inspiring to be surrounded with such creativity.

Spring Fling throw down ~

 

Easter is quickly approaching.  I normally don't cook for Easter (OK by me) but I guess this is my year.  Why is time just passing so darn fast.  I know I say it all the time, but it is just scary.

Last evening we had torrential rains.  Occasionally I have a slight water issue in my basement, but yesterday was by far the worst.  I spent hours soaking up the water with towels.  With a fan blowing overnight, it was all dry, but with the continued rain, I am getting a bit more.  Oh the joys of home ownership 😠

Home once again ~

Spring Fling in southern Ohio was once again great fun!  On our way down, we stopped at a number of antique shops and malls.  Take "antique" with a grain of salt because antiques were few and far between!

I did manage to find a treasure or two 😁

Did I need this cast iron Boston terrier door stop?  Ha!  I always say need has nothing to do with it, but for the price he needed to come live with me.  I haven't yet found the perfect spot for him, so he will temporarily reside on a stack of baskets.

I also found a couple of papier mache Easter eggs.

One is marked German Democrat Republic.

The other simply GDR.

Then today I saw my sister-in-law for the first time since her return from spending time in Florida.  She gifted me these!!!  The little one is too sweet.  I didn't have any that small.

They are simply marked Germany.

Believe it or not, I actually have pictures to share from the hook in in the next post!

Packed ~

 

Anyone who has read my blog for a while, knows that I am a master procrastinator and always wait until the last minute to pack when getting out of Dodge.  Well . . . tomorrow I am heading to the southwest corner of Ohio with three hookers to the Spring Fling ~ a two day hook in.  No teacher, just hooking fun.  Here it is only 4:30 in the afternoon and I am packed except for the last minute things I will need to throw in the bags in the morning.  I think this is a record.  The new me?  I highly doubt it 😁

Have you ever made an allspice garland?  I made a few that I will be taking when I vend in a couple weeks.  They are crazy expensive to buy but after making them, I can understand why.  An allspice is smaller than a pea.  Even after soaking them for hours, they are pretty tough to stick a needle thru.  Let me just say my thumb is pretty darn sore from all the needle pricks.  A friend used a skinny drill bit to make the hole.  I think I need to try that next.  They do smell darn good!

Bad Juju ~

 

I got new tires a couple weeks ago.  The one tire started to leak so I went back to my trusted mechanic.  He added air and thought I was good to go.  A few days later and two days before leaving for PA, the same tire was low again and I went back in a near panic.  I needed a new valve stem.  Whew!

The day before I left for southern Ohio I saw something under my car that seemed to be hanging down.  Then it completely slipped my mind.  When I was leaving the antique mall in Springfield, Ohio, 175 miles from home, it was really hanging.  ARGH!!!  I could tell is was some kind of plastic cover.  Sent DSO a picture and he said I was ok to drive but was hoping I didn't hit a big pothole or some such thing and rip it off.

Then when in Troy going to the hook in, I turned on my back window wiper blade . . . and it was gone.  WTH???

I made it home with the the plastic shield thingy still hanging on and DSO fixed that today.  Now I just need a need wiper blade.

I drive a 12 year old Nissan Rogue with a 131k miles on it that I want to drive forever . . . so I hope the bad juju is gone!

The Spring Fling was great fun!  Hosted by the Wooly Horse, Jo's Folk Art Fibers, Ali Strebel Designs and Rustic Eweniques it was held in a gorgeous restored barn in Troy, Ohio.

Jenny from the Wooly Horse is coming to our guild in June to teach a scrappy hooking class.  It should be great fun!
