In 2009, I had one lonely snowbird. (Snowbirds are small rooftop devices attached to sloped roofs. They prevent hazardous snow avalanches and ices slides by holding snow in place so it melts naturally or sheds in small, manageable amounts.) Sorry for the blurred picture, but it was cropped way down.
The collection grew to three.
And then continued to grow over the years. I had hit a dry spell and hadn't found any in a couple years, but on a recent play date bought four more. Most are cast iron, but a couple I think are cast aluminum.
On a slaw cutter. DSO brought the Home Sweet Home eagle and horseshoe from California for me.

We are truly blessed to live in the greatest nation on earth and I am thankful each and every day to be so lucky.

What a treat visiting your blog today!!!! Don't think I've ever seen those snow Eagles displayed before or some of the other items. Or perhaps I'm just in a very patriotic mood.
Congrats on winning that Polly hooked mermaid. Interesting thing is that I might have drawn that for her to hook, lol.

Love all you beautiful collections ! So many different pieces ! To win Polly's rug is so special ! Never heard of the snow eagles , very neat ! I have a nice old slaw cutter too , we just listed mine on ebay , because I don't have wall space in my kitchen for it . Mine has the pretty wood too. Hope you had a nice 4th celebration !!!
Talk about some AHHHMAZING Americana!!! Wowza! I know I've seen bits and pieces of your collections that you've shared other years but this takes my breath away. I had to laugh when you shared your eagle snowcatchers. I have one. Uno, No mas. LOL. But how odd that mine is displayed on my mom's/grandma's kraut cutter and you have one on a kraut cutter too. I spy a few other "similars" as well. That mermaid rug is a treasure and then some. If you ever decide to part with it, I'd be in the market as she would be right at home with the mermaids up here at the lake. And, yes, indeed, we are blessed beyond measure to call this country home.
I love seeing your collections, love all of them and the way you decorated with them. I enjoy keeping my patriotic items out, all summer.

When we had flea markets and antique shops, those snow birds were never seen. Maybe purchased before I saw them, but would have loved to own even one. Four at one time? Always finding something great, you are a charmed collector!
