Sunday stuff ~

It boggles my mind to think that Christmas was a month ago and we are approaching the end of January.  I do wish time would slow down but we all know that's not going to happen, and the older we get the faster it goes 😱

As I said in my previous post, there was no rug throw down at camp so don't have too many pictures to share.  Previously completed rugs that were brought to camp were hung in the hooking room.  Sue shared them on her blog, so I will just share a few of my favorites.

I love seeing the same pattern hooked in various colorways.

The bottom rug is Sue's.  (So Sue, what surnames do WR represent?)

One of Lucille Festa's rugs.  A couple hookers in the class chose this as their pattern.

Not started at this camp.  I believe this is the cover picture from the Rug Hooking in Maine book.

I have this pattern.  I should really put it near the top of my hooking list.

Melody, a blogger from years ago, was hooking this sweet Teresa Kogut angel.  She had started it in a previous class.  Isn't she beautiful?  Being hooked in 3's and 4's . . . why there is such amazing detail and color.  (Picture stolen from her FB page because the color was so much better than my picture.)

I met Melody when I attended this camp years ago.  I did not tell her I was coming once and surprised her for sure!!!

If you don't live in an area that gets snow, this is truly how people park when they can't see the lines in a parking lot.

As in a good part of the country, the winter storm has arrived.  we are not as bad as some areas.  I am guessing we have gotten 4-5" and it is supposed to continue snowing until late this evening.  Thankfully we don't have to worry about ice and freezing rain here in northern Ohio.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Camp Rug ~

HA!  Absolutely nothing to show on my camp rug.  Nary a loop has been pulled since I returned home.

Yard work is never ending.  Darn yardboy never shows up 😡

The handtorn pumpkin is bound.  It is a donation mat.

The binding on Scaredy Cat.  This was gifted to a friend for her birthday.  I whipped it using size 8 1/2 strips which I found difficult.  However, I love the look!

I hooked 2 little eagles and now they need binding.  At just over 10" in diameter, they both will be donated to the guilds I belong to.  Hopefully they are the last of my mats for donation.

No progress on Mr. Jingles.  Close, but as the say, no cigar.

Still working on Askew and am anxious to have this hooked but dreading the binding!!!  I am so close.  I knew not to set it aside and work on my camp rug because it would probably be a very long time before I got back to it.  I am just so bored with it!!!

Cedar Lakes is just beautiful in the spring.  Here are a few pictures I took in my wanderings.

Better Than No Finish ~

There has been no time for any hooking or hand work.  Hook hasn't been in hand since the week before Thanksgiving.  Hopefully that will change soon!!!  I don't do much outdoor decorating, but did get fresh greens out today and my sleds are decorated.  (UGH!  And I even raked leaves.  That is so wrong for December 8!)  Inside all is finally done except for adding some greens here and there, but I will wait another week or so because they dry out so quickly.  My last major task is inventorying gifts to see what I still need to pick up.  Hopefully it is minimal.  Oh, and then wrap. I try to buy gifts throughout the year as I find things.  I like to give gifts that are not found on Amazon or big box and department stores.

I finally finished my two snowmen on antique coverlet pieces.  They took forever 😖 and they should not have.  I am happy to call them done.  (I don't know the face on the right looks stained.  It is the same wool as the one on the left.)

My boys call me the grammar Nazi.  This about sums it up.

From Bad to Worse ~

The dining room area has gone from bad to worse 😁  I actually cleaned off the table enough the other day for three of us to eat dinner, but that was short lived.

Several people have offered to help me if needed, but I have a hard time accepting help.  I think I should be wonder woman and do it all myself.  One dear friend showed up yesterday and packaged silverplate items.  Thank you Belinda!

A pile of wool even ended up on the floor . . . and is still there.

My original goal was to applique 30 pumpkins on old coverlet pieces.  These are #18 and #19.  When I hit #20, I am D.O.N.E.  I really am sick of them and they take more time than I care to admit!

I'm sure you grammar Nazis will appreciate this one 😛

A Different Kind of Plant ~

A face plant, that is.  What a klutz.  I tripped over Molly's leash at DSO's last evening and landed face first on the hardwood floor.  Thankfully we made it to the urgent care ten minutes before closing, hoping that I would not need stitches.  The PA determined that glue would do the trick.  She chose a glue she had not used before and was happy that she could see where she was applying it.  She wrongly made the assumption that it would change to clear.  HA!  That did not happen.  It is still purple 😝

Food for thought . . .

Not Funny ~ Mother Nature

It is April 1.  It is Ohio, so this is not an anomaly.  Areas surrounding us got closer to 1.5" of the white stuff.  The good part of a spring snow is that it doesn't stick around for long.  Heck, I can remember getting snow in May.

I finally got Peter Rabbit bound.  No good excuse why it took me so long . . . other than the typical hooker response of "I hate binding!".

Now I am in the process of binding the antique adaptation, Dancing Bunnies.  I WILL finish it before Easter.

Progress is being made on my large hit and miss.  I feel like I have been hooking it forever (it has been 5 weeks!).  I am afraid if I set it aside, it will become a long term WIP.  The linen was wide enough to make it 8 blocks long, but it may get shortened to just 7 when I try it in the spot where it will reside.  I can't believe I am not even making a dent in my worm stash😡 It is currently about 30" x 30".

35 Frank

DSO Frank (affectionately know as Fritz) has been hard at work for over a year on his 1935 Ford truck he is building from a kit.

A major milestone was reached this past week when he took it to be inspected to make sure it was legal to drive.  They checked lights, brakes, directionals, etc. to be sure everything worked properly.  I am happy to say (and he is even happier) he passed with flying colors.  Because of passing the inspection, he was able to get it titled and apply for his license plate.

He is now legal to drive 😁  I went for a quick test drive months ago . . . when it didn't even have a windshield.  This time the ride was much more comfortable with windows . . . and a heater that works well.  However, the car is L.O.U.D.    I guess it's a guy thing!

He even has vintage dice hanging from the rear view mirror.

There is much more work to do.  Once he is certain everything is working as it should, he will have to disassemble it in order to paint it.  The goal is to drive it to Massachusetts in June when the company that manufactures the kits is having their 25th anniversary celebration (which is actually year 26 due to last year's Covid cancellation).

Numbers 5, 8 and 10 are especially true with Miss Molly.

A few more pithy sayings from my page-a-day calendar.

I don't bite . . . unless it's called for.  Audrey Hepburn
Started to clean my closest . . . that created a whole other mess . . . I stopped.  (Isn't that the God's truth?)
Motivation . . . devotion . . . and showering . . . all recommended daily.

This 'n That on Sunday ~

I have been working on a little freebie Valentine cross stitch.  It will be about 3 1/2" x 5" when complete.  I am stitching it on a piece of mystery 30 count linen found in the closet.  WOW!  After stitching on 36 and 40 count linen, this 30 count is easy peasy.  I don't think I am a "higher count" kind of gal.

I thought I would show you the wool I used to hook my snowman's face.  It is a great "dirty" color.  It is from The Wool Studio's October 2020 mailer called Oyster Bar.  I really wonder where they come up with these names.  Years ago when I perused wallpaper books, I wondered the same thing.  It must have been someone's full time job thinking up the names.

To my "no reply comment bloggers" . . . I would love to respond personally but cannot.  To "Unknown" . . . so sorry to hear about all the problems you have had and wish you a speedy recovery from your upcoming surgery.  To Amazon 59 . . . welcome to the world of hooking 😁.  I hope you are back in normal shoes.  Have you discovered Saundra's blog?  She is a wealth of information for new (and old) hookers!

I was the lucky recipient of some "Happy Mail" from Donna over at a little of this and a little of that blog.  She randomly sends a little something to a blog reader.  It truly made my day.  Original watercolors.  Oh, she is so talented.  She also hooks, knits, and who knows what else?  Thanks, Donna 💗

Now I don't care about your political leanings, but you have to admit the Bernie meme that has gone viral is too funny.  Here are a few of my favorites.
