And Now There Are Four ~

Gypsy has been bound.  It was bound in one of the wools used in the background.  One down, four to go 😁  The four have been trimmed, steamed and the edges zigzagged (I don't have a serger).  Thankfully they are smaller than Gypsy.

In October I am vending at a show that is not a hook in.  I am determined not to wait until the last minute to make non-hooking related items.  (Or did I already tell you that?)  I did make 15 wool wreaths.  All that's left is to add a bow.  It's a start!

Did you know that black dogs are usually the last to be adopted from a shelter?

And speaking of black dogs, Molly is still seizure free, but is having great difficulty walking.  It is just heartbreaking to see her dragging herself across the floor.  That gray face just melts my heart.

Miscellaneous Stuff ~

Like Saundra, I just have miscellaneous stuff to blog about 😇

We, too, have had some very spring like weather and you will get no complaints from me.  It is fun to walk around the flower beds and see what is peeking out.  The snowdrops have been above ground for the last month and they, along with the winter aconite, were blooming yesterday.  Daffodils have buds and the hyacinth are beginning to emerge.

Yesterday Molly enjoyed soaking up some sunshine.

Since passing on the raffle rug to the next hooker, I am back to "my" hooking.  This October I am vending at a show that is not a hook in, so want to hook a few small mats to hopefully sell.  Two pumpkins with hand torn strips are hooked . . .

. . . and the hooking is nearly complete on this little hit or miss mat.

Photo bomber 😁

I finally finished the hooking on Gypsy, started last May at Cedar Lakes rug camp.  All I had left was about 15 minutes of reverse hooking.  The rug is OK, not one of my favorites (but they all can't be, right?).   Now on to steaming and binding.  I find steaming as tedious as the binding.

Home Again ~

How can it really be Thanksgiving next week?  I love that it is early this year ~ more time to get ready for Christmas 😁

As usual, I did not take pictures at the hooking get away.  Only got one of friend Linda's rug that she started in a class with Cathy Stephan a while back.

I did get some hooking done, but of course not as much as I would have liked.  Nothing new there.  I finished Fierce Lion, except I still need to redo the eyes, and of course I will procrastinate for quite some time.  He is not nearly as white as the picture shows.

Progress was made on Gypsy.  Not too much more to hook, and some reverse hooking needs to be done.  The colors are WAY too washed out, but if I try for a better picture, I may never get this post done!  Sorry that my pictures are worse than normal!

I also started Mr. Jingles ~ a Christmas gift.  He is such an easy hook.  He will most likely have antique shoe buttons for his eyes and buttons.

Gypsy ~

Gypsy was started at Cedar Lakes Rug Camp in May.  I have pulled a few loops since my return from camp, but not for quite some time.  The wool I took to camp has never been sorted.  I should have removed the wool that was not going to be hooked in to the rug, but of course I did not.  Plus I "borrowed" a few pieces of the wool I used to put in other rugs I started.  Dumb, dumb, DUMB!  I have this entire large tote full of wool.  I really should sort through it and remove wool that will not be used.  Right now it is a hot mess.

I can't find a picture of what the rug looked like before I started hooking on it today.  I was not happy with part of the horse so I have been reverse hooking some of him.

I only have background left to hook on Fierce Lion - plus some serious work on his eyes.  I will take him to work on at guild Thursday.  No brainer hooking.

Next week the Twenty Dollar Hookers are meeting for a few days in Millersburg.  I will take Fierce Lion to finish and hopefully will make progress on Gypsy.  That will still leave me one rug in progress from a camp this year, Love Birds.  It, too, has been neglected.

I have often said I am a city dweller, but have woods nearby.  Deer are a huge problem.  It's not unusual to see them in the yard or walking down the street.  Last evening I was coming down the stairs and this young buck was approaching my bird bath that sits about five feet from the house.  I had to walk to the kitchen to get my phone and he was in no hurry to leave.

Cedar Lakes Rug Camp ~

Cedar Lakes Conference Center is set in beautiful Ripley, West Virginia.  Our weather was absolutely perfect each day.  Foggy mornings then bright blue skies and warm temperatures.

My class was with Jeanne Benjamin.  Of the twelve students, eight had taken from her previously . . . some many times.

My progress after four days.  I always think I should accomplish so much more.  To my chagrin, much of this is hooked in an 8 cut to get the detail I needed.  8 1/2 is my preferred cut.  (It is hard to believe there is such a big difference between an 8 and an 8 1/2!)

Some of the rugs being worked on in the class.

This was the third class with Jeanne in which the hooker was working on one of Jeanne's patterns.  Simply gorgeous!!!

Tablemate and Ohio hooker finished this little primitive kitty and started another with a barn.

Teacher Bev Conway rode to camp with Jeanne and sat in on our class.  Here is the rug she was working on.

It is a beautiful day on Ohio's north coast.  Now that the weather is finally improving, I am back to walking outdoors in the morning.  Since I live only two blocks from Lake Erie, a trip through the park is a must.  Today the lake was glass smooth.

I will leave you with a bit of humor 😁

More camp stuff to share in my next post.

Happy Mother's Day ~

Happy Mother's Day to one and all, whether it be to the two legged variety or four 😁

It's not like I have been sitting around for days doing nothing but watching soap operas and eating bonbons, but I am my usual very far behind.  Errands this morning.  I am in the process of doing laundry so I can pack my clothes.  Finding my summer clothes was a bit of a challenge.  My wool is pretty much packed ~ lots and lots of wool.  Next up . . . mowing the yard so I won't need a goat when I get home.  I know it will all get done, but I would like to sleep tonight, though Robin pointed out that sleep is overrated . . . lol!

My rug for camp is a scrappy one, Gypsy by Payton Primitives.  It has been in my stash for too many years.  Hopefully when I return from camp I will have lots to share . . . if I remember to take pictures.

Thanks so much for stopping by.
