Monday Already?

What a crazy, busy weekend, but as I've said, I bring it upon myself.

Saturday I headed to the Harvest at the Mill show in Holly, MI.  What a wonderful show.  It's so funny because I could head to a show a half hour from home and not know as many people as I knew there.  I had a limited amount of time to spend there, and had a hard time trying to see everything because I spent most of my time yacking, and I really am not a yacker . . . lol!  And I am so sorry I never even took one picture :(  I could have been really bad, but with my upcoming hooking retreats, I tried to restrain myself.  I did buy this coverlet piece for me . . .

. . . and this fabric covered box from Bobbie, the Evening Stitcher, because it has my initials on it, though backwards.

Other than that, I did find some silverplate teaspoons for a reasonable price (yeah) and these typewriter keys.  I am just kicking myself.  Maybe 13 years ago I sold an old typewriter ~ that was before I ever saw the cool things they do with the old keys.  Just about every time I sell something old I regret it.  That's probably why my attic is out of control . . . lol!  Also a couple Christmas gifts that I can't show.

I got to spend some time talking with Earlene.  She had some wonderful antiques in her booth.  I did buy one of the Christmas gifts from her.  I also met Marie, better known as Olde Lady Morgan.  She and hubby were just as sweet as can be.  Both Bobbie and Marie have shared some great pictures of the show on their blogs.

Sunday morning Jake and I headed to the Akron, OH, Zoo, treated by dear friend Dolly.  It is a smaller zoo, but lots of fun.  Thanks so much Dolly.  You are a special friend :)

Jake going down the slide that runs through the river otter tank.

Jake showing off some of his smashed pennies.  In California, I found a smashed penny album.  I had not seen those before.  The pennies are great souvenirs for only $.51 each and more and more places now have the machines.

Grizzly Ridge is the zoo's newest attraction.  Jake and the grizzly were separated by only a pane of glass.  Too cool :)

His favorite was the Komodo dragon, though it just laid there.

These jellyfish known as Pacific Sea Nettles were just fascinating to watch.

Isn't this sweet?

Jake and Dolly.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Butt Spot ~

Should it stay or should it go?  I can't decide.  In person, the background is more subtle, but I can't get a good pic to save my soul.

This is going to be a crazy, busy weekend.  I would like nothing better than to stay home, but it isn't meant to be.  Every weekend in September is super busy.  UGH, but I bring it upon myself.  Tomorrow we are off to Michigan for DSO's daughter's 40th birthday celebration.  Since I will almost be in the neighborhood on Saturday, I will here.  I hope I don't find much I can't live without.  I need to be saving my cash for my upcoming hooking retreats :)

Will return home Saturday evening and Sunday morning it is off to the Akron Zoo with grandson Jake and friend Dolly.  Sunday evening is a cookout and then in too few hours it will be Monday and back to work.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Fun Stuff ~

I didn't have much time to shop at the Harvest of the Mill show which was probably a very good thing.  There were so many wonderful items to choose from.  I almost bought an antique sampler, probably Scottish, that I am now kicking myself for not buying.  It did find a good home, though, because it is now residing with Bobbie, The Evening Stitcher.

From Bobbie's booth, I purchased this doll.  I am not much of a doll person and bought this for a friend, but she looks so good sitting in my youth chair next to the pie safe that she may not be leaving.

Don't you just LOVE those hands?

Dear Bobbie gifted with an orphan shoe to add to my collection.  Don't you just love the scalloped top?

Sweet Ann of 1803 Ohio Farm Baskets gave me one of her walnuts garlands.  Lucky me :)

Another purchase was this little drying rack.

I couldn't not purchase one of Melinda's (Merry Wind Farm) sewing pockets made with a reproduction sampler.  Her work is perfection.

Old rag balls from Sherry (From Sherry's Heart) look great in an old pewter bowl.  If you're interested, she still has some left.

And just for fun, I am giving away a button bracelet made by good friend Dolly that she makes and donates 100% of the sales to Ohio Pug Rescue.  The winner can choose from a bracelet with a cat or dog theme, or plain.  Leave a comment on this post only or send me an email with give-away in the subject line.  I will pick a winner on or about Sunday.  The only rule is you must contact me so I know it is going to someone who really reads my blog!!!

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Harvest at the Mill ~

The show is over and it was great fun!  Lots of stress but in looking back, worth it.  I got to spend time with some friends and meet some wonderful bloggers I only knew through blogland.
This is my Rogue Friday morning.  I felt like a little like Sanford and Son the way I was loaded up.  I don't know how I had my camera set that all my pictures came out so blue.

These are the only pictures I took.  Every time I was going to get the camera I got distracted, so this is it :(  For some great pictures visit Earlene, Lori and Karen.

I was told by several people who do shows that you never know what will sell.  I was sure Melinda's sewing pockets (see previous post) would fly out of the booth and that Sherry's hooked pieces (also in the previous post) would, too.  I was convinced my Betsy style pumpkins and my little mats would not come home with me.  WRONG!!!  Only two of those pockets sold. NOTHING hooked sold.  I mean not even one hooked item between the three of us.   Thankfully I sold more spoon jewelry than I expected.  Know what else sold well?  Dried gourds and dried walnut bowl fillers!  Other than that just a few odds and ends.

In the booth next to me was Ann of 1803 Ohio Farm Baskets.  We've met before and we shared a room Friday night.  What a sweet lady.  Bobbie, the Evening Stitcher was across the lot from me. She's a good hooker friend :)  I also got to meet Lori and Earlene in person and spend a little time chatting with Karen (see links above).  There were other bloggers I met but my mind is still in a fog and I don't want to forget anyone.  Holly Hills Dawn did a wonderful job organizing this show.  It was the first one and there is not one thing I would suggest she do differently (other than sell her soul to the devil so it doesn't rain next time . . . lol).

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Sneak Peak ~

Just a little peak at a few of the items I will have for your viewing pleasure at the Harvest of the Mill show in Holly, MI, on Saturday.  If you attend, please stop by and say hi.

These sewing pockets are to die for wonderful. These beauties are from Melinda of Merry Wind Farm.  Some are made with reproduction cross stitch samplers . . .

. . . while some are made with vintage quilt blocks.

I've also got a couple of her reproduction cross stitch samplers.  They are big, they are beautiful and they are stitched on 32 or 35 count linen. You have to see them in person to appreciate their beauty.

Here are just a few of the things hand made by Sherry (from Sherry's Heart).  She has some really cool hooked pieces . . .

. . . and wonderful punch needle.  This JOL is hooked with Valdani pearl cotton and attached to a fabric covered box that is very muted in person.

Last but certainly not least are these fun bracelets from vintage buttons made by dear friend Dolly .  There are bracelets for dog and cat lovers and plain ones, too.  The best part ~ 100% of the sales go to benefit Ohio Pug Rescue!!!

Thanks so much for stopping by.  I probably won't post again before the show.  Wish me luck.  The weather sounds like it will be perfect.  Hopefully when it is all over, I'll have time to visit everyone's blogs.

Committed ~

Well, I've committed (intransitive verb - to obligate oneself).

Because of that, I just may be committed (transitive verb - to place in a mental institution).

We'll see which one it ends up being :)  Dawn from Holly Hills Primitives asked me to sell my spoon necklaces at the show.  That's easy enough, but not enough to fill a booth and make it worth my while when expenses are factored in.  So I need to be a hookin' fool (or just a fool) and get some things made.  Problem is finding the time. This week I've got something going on every night for at least part of the evening.  All day Saturday will be spent at a dog event working the Ohio Pug Rescue booth.  And of course the day job takes up a good part of my life.  (Even though I may complain, I am thankful I have it.)  ACK!  I'm stressing myself just thinking about it :)

Thanks to all who entered my little give-away and for all the sweet comments on my spelling error.  Congrats to Annie, the winner of my "WOOL ADDICT" necklace.   Please send me your snail mail address and I will get it mailed tout de suite.

Thanks so much for stopping by.
