Sauder ~ Celebration of Hand Hooked Rugs

Celebration rugs are the premier juried collection of the year's best hand  hooked rugs.  If you have received the Celebration book, you will see many, many more rugs!

Tomorrow my desktop computer (where I blog and leave comments on others' blogs) is finally going to the computer doctor.  Hopefully they can speed it up . . . or I will be forced to buy a new one.  Fingers crossed I won't have to.

Friday hooker friend Val and I are heading to the Woolkeepers hook in in Indiana, about 5 1/2 hours from here.  Bev Stewart who put on the hook in for many years sadly lost her battle with cancer and her husband has dubbed this her Memorial Hook In.  I opted not to vend this year and it will be fun to attend with no commitments 😁

Sauder ~ Part One

I have so much to share but am still unpacking and trying to organize since I will be vending at another hook in in less than a month!

What an experience.  I am so humbled and honored having been asked to vend at Sauder Village during rug week.  It is the Holy Grail of vending!!!

It took us about 5 hours to set up the booth.  Usually we only have and hour or two, but we are thankful we had so much time.  Here we are mid-setup.

Voila!  (Or as some people say, wahla 😁)

Let me just say that it is very dangerous vending across the aisle from the Wool Studio.  They had so many older wools I love to have in my stash . . . and then some I just wanted.  It would be nice to know what I have already because I see some I purchased that I have.  Oh, well.  Oh, hell.  (Wool doesn't go bad 😘)  I have NEVER, EVER purchased so much wool at one time!!!

My wool purchases . . . all are from the Wool Studio except for that large orangey/brown check that came from Dorr.  There were many vendors with wonderful overdyed wool, but I didn't dare even look.

The purple is so NOT me, but I thought it would be good in a Halloween rug.

Crunch Time ~

I have been working day and night . . . it seems like forever.  Everything takes so much time, or am I just slow?  I have given up on making paisley heart pinkeeps and cross stitch necklaces.  Oh well, oh hell.  It is what it is 😁

My dining room/living room has gone from one extra table to two.

Stuff EVERYWHERE!

I don't do chaos well, and I have been living with it for weeks and weeks.  I am so looking forward to having this behind me, with time to get my neglected yard back on track.  I am (almost) looking forward to cleaning my house.  It is beyond bad.  I am my own worst enemy . . . sigh.

Not sure if I will have time for one quick post before heading out Tuesday morning.  Please wish me and Melissa good luck and plenty of sales to make this all worthwhile.

I Should Have Known Better ~

I was just a bit (now that's an understatement!) optimistic about what I would accomplish on my Sauder retreat this past weekend.  I had started this before leaving . . . 

. . . and finished the hooking at the retreat.  Sunday I "finished" it.  I just turned back the linen and stitched it down before putting it in this old drawer.  It is about the size of an old sewing machine drawer, but not nearly as deep.  The plan is to change it out seasonally, but we know about good intentions ~ haha.  I am most pleased at how it turned out.

I also had plans to finish the border on McMinn Antique, bind Vintage Blossoms and start on True Hearts.  Well, that sure didn't happen :(  I got about half the border hooked on McMinn and never started binding the rug until I got home, nor did I start True Hearts.  Such is the story of my life, but hey, I had a great time at Sauder so that is all that matters.

I was going to show a picture of McMinn Antique, but Molly climbed up on the frame and I didn't have the heart to move her.
