More Lakeside Rugs ~

 

 

More of the Lakeside rugs.  As I've said before, this was one talented group of hookers.

 

 

Deb's rug started in the Ali Strebel class at Cape May.  

 

 

Another rug using Ali's techniques.  I believe this is not-from-Louisville Sharon's project.

 

 

Pure Joy is Timeless was the theme of this year's retreat.  A number of people were hooking a clock.  Sue's red numbers were being re-hooked in gold.

Deb finished the hooking and just needs to "finish" it and put in the clockworks.

Val was SO CLOSE but was just a few worms shy of finishing and nothing found was a good match.

I finished my Polly Minick whale except for the canton.  I hadn't thought to bring the wool with me.

Thankfully upon my return home, I was able to find the wool (nothing short of a miracle) and finish it up.  Of course it still needs steaming and binding.

I also hooked this Heavens to Betsy style pumpkin using hand torn strips.

I even started on my Star Rug Company Santa and sheep rug I've had for several years.

You can spot Maria's sheep a mile away.  She has such a distinct style that is F-U-N.

 

I can't believe I sat with friends Melissa and Bobbie for three days and did not get a picture of their rugs.  So sorry ladies.

Lakeside Rugs ~

I have many rugs, completed and in process to share with you ~ so many I'll break it in to two posts.  For the most part I won't even try to identify the hooker because I know I will mess a few of them up.

 

Friend Sheila's rug.  The second picture shows the color much better though I'm sure she'll hate me for posting her picture :)  She hooked the entire rug there except for two rows of the red/orange.  She was trying to decide whether to add a border.  The rug is a pattern by Humble Rugs and had "kindly welcome" in the brown area, but since it is going in her powder room, she decided to omit the lettering :)

Another rug being hooked from a photo in a 3 cut.  Absolutely stunning.

The colors on this log cabin rug are much richer in person and included some sparkly wool.  It's making me re-think sparkly wool since I never thought I'd hook with it.

Two more rugs being hooked in a very fine cut.

There was SO MUCH talent in this great bunch of hookers.  I am just in awe.

More Lakeside F-U-N ~

Here is a sampling of the rugs being worked on at the Lakeside retreat.  For the most part, I will not attempt to acknowledge who hooked what, but I do know this one was finished by Rita . . .

. . . and this one is nearing completion by Sue.

I believe Laura was hooking this one . . .

 

. . . and I know this one is Deb's.  She was one of several hooking a footstool cover.

Melissa is hooking an antique adaptation from an old issue of Create and Decorate Magazine.  In person, her colors were very old looking.

Lee was hooking a chicken rug based on a photograph she found on Facebook and adapted to a rug with the owner's blessing.

Such a fun rug.  I believe it's a Rebecca Erb pattern.

Our dear Katie was hooking this using torn chenille strips.

Probably my favorite rug being hooked at the retreat.  Bobbie, the Evening Stitcher, was doing a marvelous job on this Spruce Ridge Studio pattern.  It is a rather large rug and she made great progress.

Another fun rug.  Look closely and you will see many dogs.

I finished hooking the "birthday rug" and started this Magdalena Briner adaptation.  It is about 12 1/2" x 21".  I finished it upon my arrival home and it's ready to be bound.  Am I turning over a new leaf?

Saturday morning we were having a rug throw down and a gentleman walked by and asked what was going on.  I think he was mighty impressed to have met so many hookers :)  He graciously took pictures of the group, though some had already left.
