Gimping Around ~

Does this shoe make my foot look fat?

I had bunion surgery yesterday.  I definitely underestimated it.  I was basing it on my niece's experience and since her bunions were so much worse than mine, I thought it would be a piece of cake . . . not.  Let's just say there is more pain than anticipated and I did not realize I would be needing a walker to get around.  But all in all, it's doable and this too shall pass.  I'm just not sure about the "not driving for six weeks" part . . . and it is my driving foot. 😢

If you haven't visited the Merry Olde Dame, you are missing out on some great ideas.  She also offers free graphics on the blog and even more graphics in her etsy shop that are so cheap they are "almost" free.  A couple weeks ago, she showed some hearts made from book pages.  You can check it out here.  On the same post she offered some sweet graphics to use on the hearts.

When at the antique mall a couple weeks ago, I found some sheet music I thought would work well.

In today's dollars, this was would be $18.93.  Sounds kind of pricey to me, but I haven't a clue on the cost of sheet music.

The first heart I stuffed with a bit of fiberfill than remembered I had some lavender, so the others are filled with a bit of it.

I was also able to use some of the graphics for the reverse side.

I will leave you with your Saturday chuckle.

Thanks so much for stopping by.
Pug hugs 😊

Why yes, that shoe does make your foot look fat. Heal quickly my friend.

Oh no, bunion surgery is very tough, I hear! But at least once healed, you will have better foot function. Does propping your foot up relieve any of the pain? Thank you for the mention, too! I like your paper hearts more than mine! Love the sheet music you used. $1 was a sizeable amount back in those days; surprising! If I recall correctly, blouses and shoes were also very pricey.

Had that damn shoe for two surgeries this past summer. Hate!! It throws my hip out of whack unless I wear a low heel on the other foot. Bunion surgery can be quite painful! Rest.

Darling hearts.

Your foot looks kind of funny, almost human-like. If there were two black dots on the end of the sock for eyes, it would look like a masked face with a bow tie. I can even see the teeth. I'm just trying to cheer you up. Speedy healing. I hope that you have a friend who can drive for you.

Once it's done you'll be able to wear those shoes that you couldn't wear before.

Your musical hearts are kind of cute.
Take care and stay safe.
Hugs, Julia

Sorry for your pain but neither your positive statement about pain relief nor the comments by others have made me decide to have surgery on my worse bunion plus hammer toe on same foot. SIGH.....

I agree with Saundra, I will put that surgery off for as long as possible. Hope the time passes quickly and you aren’t in to much pain

Oh I am so sorry, I had heard it was a harder surgery than they make it out to be. Well I am glad you can still create. Six weeks though? That is a long time.
Hang in there.

Ugh! So sorry about your foot! And no driving for 6 weeks? That would drive me bonkers... good thing it's winter and not much else to do except stay home... feel better soon! Love those little Valentines! It's a sweet vintage look!

I just Love those darling Hearts !!! Such a cute idea !!!

As for your foot ....I know exactly how you feel . I had surgery for bones spurs & arthritis on my foot 2 years ago . I had a boot much bigger than yours along with crutches & a Damn scooter for 6 weeks !!! After that a big old clunky boot for 2 more weeks . Wasn't fun at all , I sat on my butt to get up & down the stairs & my husband had to carry that Damn Scooter up & down ....The best part of sitting on my Butt all those weeks was hooking & doing punch needle , it was great ! No one bothered me & I enjoyed every day . I didn't gain much weight because I kept my hands busy & it was such a pain to carry food and try
not to spill anything . My advice you is be the Queen & hook & be creative , you won't believe how many neat things you can create !!!
And I can now walk miles without any pain & wear comfy shoes again !!!!
Take Care , you can do it !!!!

Well, mama said if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all. I'll leave it at that. ;-) Those hearts are really sweet!! A few years ago I purchased a HUGE old dictionary (not sure why it is so huge as the type is not larger than most and I don't believe there were 3x the words when it was printed than we have since, but anyways....I bought it for projects as it is in poor shape. But can I bring myself to rip out a page??? No! I have this horrible thing in my head about books being sacred. Grrrr.... I hate my head sometimes. Love you're joke about grammar...you KNOW that crap drives me nuts....it's part of what makes us twins. ;-) Heal fast! But looking forward to your creations while you heal. Funny, when I fell down the stairs, I have absolutely no accomplishments to show for it. ~Robin~

Well you have my sympathy and understanding. I have been un that brace for the last 14 months. It aint easy!!!
Surgery in Nov 2019 due to a previous break and in summer 2019 all of my sesamoid bones broke in samr foot...right one. Now too much structural damage and they must amputate in coming weeks. I do miss driving and those kind of freedoms. Perhaps in the future it will be a reality again.
Heal soon...get lots done on your craft list.

Just found your blog through Pinterest and just getting started with rug hooking!
Since all my children have 4 legs and fur and I had bunion surgery November 30 I laughed - no the boot is fat not you!
I am supposed to start wearing normal shoes next week! I agree the pain was more than I expected at first - but now it is just irritating swelling at the end of the day! Hang in there! LOVE you're blog!
