One More ~

One more tin doll head marked Germany came home with me yesterday from my favorite antique show in Milan, Ohio, birthplace of Thomas A. Edison.  She is on the right.  One more is needed and it will be an official collection :)

They sit atop a Shaker sewing box purchased at the same antique show a few years ago.  The cross stitch heart was a gift from Melinda at Merry Wind Farm and the pincushion in the old shoe was made by Bobbie, The Evening Stitcher.  I have some very talented friends.

I also purchased a lightening rod minus the ball.  I know I have a ball or two . . . somewhere . . . I just need to figure out where.  I also bought three Christmas gifts and a birthday gift.  I was pretty happy about that.  I prefer to give gifts that a person would not normally buy and something that can't be found at Kohl's . . . lol.

Happy Monday.  A hot one here in northern Ohio.  After all the rain we had this spring, I knew when it stopped we would be in a world of hurt, and we are there.  The grass is already turning crunchy brown :(

Thanks so much for stopping by.
Pug hugs :)
Lauren

But will you stop at three? hehe, I'm glad that you find some antiques that make your heart sing and also that you have such generous friends. The little heart pin cushion goes perfect with the doll heads. You are doing such a good job displaying your collections.
Enjoy the new week.
Hugs, Julia

good find on the doll heads. today was beautiful here no humidity and breezy.
we are still getting down pours when it rains which is at least once or more a week.
Good for you ahead of the Christmas rush.

My grandfather's barn had lighting rods and a really nice weather vane I wonder what happened to them???

It is so much fun when you finally find that one antique you have wanted. Still searching for a few good pieces myself. You did good for yourself and for others with the gifts. janice

Looks like a good place to shop. I really miss having somewhere close to browse for treasure. But if I saw those heads, I would not have a clue.

What fun things you find! Not to mention all of the great things you have, a lighting rod and you have the balls that go on top. I used to know a lady who lived in a very old house, and she had the most amazing lighting rods on the top of the house, and the balls were all intact. I thought it was incredible. She also had a graveyard on the property. I always wanted to live there.
We haven't had the heat like in years past. Its been a odd summer.
Stay cool if you can.

I had never seen tin doll heads before....thank you for bringing (to my attention) a new item to be on the hunt for....lol! Love those hand made goodies too! You certainly do have some talented (and thoughtful) friends! Here in Central NJ we have the same weather....only today we should get some soaking rains to help revive that brown, crunchy grass...

Love your tin doll heads. So cool! I'm behind on blog reading again, been skimming through. Just a thought on poison ivy -- there's this stuff called Zanfel that you can buy at the drug store. It's pricy, but it's the one thing I've found that works a charm. I keep it in the house just in case. I hate poison ivy, am paranoid about it. lol!
