MIA ~

St. Nicholas has gone MIA.  All my Christmas things are stored in the same room in the attic, but where is the old guy?  I have looked, looked, and looked again.  I give up.  I guess he won't be seen this year.  Perhaps he's so terrified of Covid he won't be found . . . or maybe has an issue wearing a mask . . . lol!

This is a sampler begun several decades ago and put away unfinished.  A couple years ago, I finally completed the stitching and pinned it to the back of the living room wing chair, figuring I would do something with it in a timely manner.  Fast forward to last week, and it was still there.  Oh, I would occasionally glance at it thinking something ~ anything ~ must be done.

FINALLY!!!  I coffee stained it and turned back the edges and did a running stitch around the perimeter.  I hate when such a simple finish takes years 😒

Thanks so much for stopping by.
Pug hugs 😊
Lauren

Absolutely LOVE this sampler and your finish. Sometimes perfection takes a while, ya know?? ;-) I feel your pain regarding the missing Santa. I was missing hats (very different) hats for 2 of my skeletons this year. I cannot tell you how many times I went through tote after tote, box after box...and "logical" storage spaces (as neither was particularly "small" and could not just be "shoved" anywhere...but to no avail. (And, yes...I was still searching on Halloween day). I did locate one....FINALLY...in one of my futile attempts to put Halloween away...but the other is still a mystery. Hoping your rogue Santa turns up sooner rather than later. ~Robin~

I love your sampler, such beautiful work. I know your feeling about your santa being MIA, I bought a little music TV last year that plays music and my little Granddaughter loved it. I have looked in the attic, my shed, all through the house and do you think I can find it. I will probably find it around the 4th. of July. Hope you have a beautiful Christmas season. Lecia

Your sampler is gorgeous and the perfect finish! :-)
I think maybe Santa is in COVID quarantine... I watched the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade... and he was waving from his sleigh but not wearing a mask! I hope the elves are ok as well.... ;-)

I know how you feel about not finding your missing Santa. Since I lost a lot of my Christmas decorations in the flood but can't remember all the decorations I lost and I look for them. It was such a hectic time then and I had my priorities but when one gets old, memory is hard to find too. lol...

Your sampler is so beautiful, I probably would have it framed.

Stay safe and if that Santa has Covid, he better stay lost for now. lol.
Hugs, Julia

Since your Sampler has been stained and finished, where do you plan to display it? Hope you find Old Santa.

At least you finished it. I have drawers full of finished things, cross stitch and things like that and I never know what to do with them. I love that Santa. I hope you find him.
I had to give up looking for things I missed. I must have left them in the other house. Thinking I would go back and get them, but the buyers were so desperate to get in I never did.
I do hate that when I can't find something like that.
I hope you have a wonderful day today.

YAY fantastic finish on the sampler and so timely but I think pinned to a chair back sounds wonderful too! Poor Santa I think he's hiding from you know who, we are all afraid to come out. I hope you have the loveliest of holidays - I'm afraid it will be the last of it's kind. I'm just so thankful we never had any kids.
Happy Christmas Mel

Very nice finishing! Glad to see I'm not the only one that loses treasures. I can understand it happening with your large collection, but he's a good size!

LOL on the sampler. I took out a Christmas one I purchased years ago on Monday. Even still have all of the floss with it...but do you think I started it....NO. Been trying to finish up a baby afghan am crocheting for my nephews wife. Need to have that finished by Christmas. Janice PS Hope you find your St Nicholas. One of my egg carton Sarna's is still AWOL. Maybe he and yours are having a party together. Janice

Hi Lauren,
I feel just like your missing Santa....MIA!! I do hope you will find him! Perhaps if you listen really hard you can hear a faint Ho Ho Ho.......!
LOVE your sweet sampler and I think I may do the same thing to yours, since I still have not been able to find the right frame!! Did you just turn it under once and stitch, or is it twice? LOVE how it looks and it is really a beautiful piece!! I finally framed a punched piece that I had totally forgotten about!! It happens when I put things away!!!
Hope you have a wonderful day today, my friend!!
Heart Hugs~
