The "C" Word ~

Not yet November, and there have been signs of "C" in stores for way too long.  Remember as a kid . . . yes I know I am dating myself . . . that "C" stuff did not appear until after "T"?

Anywho . . . I need another "C" tree like I need another . . . well, you know.  BUT . . . how could I resist this little tree for $1 at Dollar Tree?  (Well, I did actually buy two . . . lol.)

I knew it needed a little skirt and found some old quilt squares languishing in a drawer.

Voila.  Tree skirt :)  All I did was cut a hole in the center and blanket stitch the edge.

The reverse side is a wonderful homespun fabric so either side can be used.

And here she is :)  Of course she needs some little glass balls and perhaps some lights.  But not now.

Thanks so much for stopping by.
Pug hugs :)
Lauren

Hi Lauren, that is the best blog post title I've seen in a very long time lol. "C" has been in our Michaels since August. I was in DT today, saw a lavender "C" stocking, first time for me. I do like your tree and skirt:)

I know, I am thinking of all the things I wanted to do this year and I know I don't have enough time, so just making what I want and having fun, no stress.

So sweet now hook some ornaments to go on it! I rarely go in dollar stores unless I see someone get something I want (like you) as I am a sucker for stuff.

I'm already over it again this year. IMHO, except for craft items that take time to assemble, a month ahead (i.e. September for Halloween, November for Christmas, etc.) is plenty of time to put out the holiday items. Especially the "plop it on a shelf" things.

How sturdy are the branches on this tree? I looked at getting a smaller tree last year, but the branches would not hold much weight.

Love how you made that little tree skirt. Perfect! Yes, I remember when C items didn't appear in stores till after T. I also remember (not THAT long ago) when C items didn't appear in stores till after H! lolol! I'm so not ready. For T or C. Or H. lol!

I'm not ready either. And unlike you I decorate minimally and still not ready.

To cute with the skirt!! I ordered 24 of the green ones, I'm going to try to make the wooly trees for a friend. Hobby Lobby already has their "C" stuff 50% off. Crazy

Hi Lauren,
Your post cracked me up!! That tree is adorable and what a clever idea to make the tree skirt for it with an old quilt square!!! I'm sure Dollar Tree will wonder why those trees are blowing out the door!!! I may have to break down and get one......or two!!
Hope you are having a great week, my friend!!

Your tree skirt is so darn cute! I remember making these in the 80's and selling them at shows. Janice

Good job on that little tree skirt. It will look cute. Two things I'm nor ready for is the "C" word and the "S" word. lol...
Although I'm having my "S" tires put on my Nissan Rogue on Nov 4th, I hope it won't be needed too soon.

Happy Halloween.

Oh Lauren. Your collections and decorating are so special that they should be set out early to enjoy longer. They deserve more than just a month!! Our stores here have been crazy busy and Black Fridays are coming early.

Pretty darned cute. Might just have to take a trip to DT myself. But mine won’t have such a charming tree skirt.
