New Lexicons ~

Social Distancing
Flattening the Curve
Shelter in Place

I must say, these are terms I have not heard before.  Perhaps they have been around, but unfamiliar to me.  Never in my wildest dream did I ever imagine something like this could happen.  I am not worried about becoming ill.  The only underlying issue I have is being elderly . . . lol.

{{Personally I don't think 68 is elderly :) }}

I am terrified what it is doing to our country and economy.  Both my sons' girlfriends are now unemployed.  Thankfully both boys still have jobs.  In Ohio, dine in restaurants and bars have been closed for about 10 days.  Beginning today, we are to shelter in place.  Yes, we can still go to the grocery store, gas station, work (if you still have a job), etc.  Don't get me wrong, even though I don't fear becoming ill, I am being cautious.  Even before this pandemic, I was staying pretty close to home.  I know some of you will find this hard to believe, but I really am a homebody . . . unless it's hooking related.  Sadly my rug camp, retreat, hook ins, guilds, etc. have all been cancelled for the coming months.

I did have our March birthday get together on Sunday.  Here are the three birthday boys social distancing for the group photo :)  On the left is younger son J (39 . . . how did that happen?), grandson Jake (15 . . . how is that possible?) and my brother Bill (70 . . . WTH?).  No pic of me!

Such a handsome young man.

If we don't laugh, we'll cry.  I still haven't figured the toilet paper issue and it seems no one else has . . . other than if we are quarantined for a long period of time and not allowed out of the house.  (Personally I am more concerned about food!)  If people would just stop hoarding :(  There are so many funny memes out there.  I bet when it is finally over, there will be books published with them.  Of course, since I wanted to post a few, this was the only one I could come up with.

Thanks so much for stopping by.
Be smart.  Be safe.  Be healthy.
Pug hugs (from 6' away) :)
Lauren

Hey youngster.....I'm 78! Now that IS OLD. I went to the grocery store (2 actually) on Friday looking for things and when I couldn't find orange juice in one I stopped at another. Then yesterday (Monday) went to the same two stores looking for the items which could not be found on Friday. But still the items weren't there and the freezer section was STILL empty as was the OJ section.

So yeah, I'm concerned about not having food. Guess I'll have to open up canned food items when the vegetables run empty and use anything edible until MY shelves are also empty.

I know! I thought social distancing was avoiding friends who drank too much and flattening the curve was taking off 15 pounds!

Your home is so great. Family looks good too! I remember pics of a very young redhead and he's all grown up already. Geez.

Stay well!

Jake is getting so old. I think the whole country needs to be shut down for 3 weeks we would come out of this faster. Every thing is shut down but we are not shelter in place as of yet but all the states around us are.

It's a sad day when you to go one of the largest grocery chains in the south and there is no meat,no frozen veggies and no can soup on the shelf. I asked the butcher "How can you have senior citizen hour if there is no food for them to buy?"I'm just sad that the public library is closed. Stay well!

Love your ribbon !!! great idea ! I hope this shopping business of hoarding finally ends !!! This is scary & I feel so bad for all the nurses & Dr's working so hard trying to stay safe. When this finally over we should all go out Dancing in the Streets !!!!

Too funny Girl... Ya, ain't it the truth? We are under a "safer-than-home" order since Tuesday (another one for your new lexicon LOL... it means "lock-down" to me). It really doesn't matter than much to me because I'm sorta a "homebody" too (I know that comes as a surprise to you too)...and this will come as an even bigger shock I know, but I have enough projects (fun and otherwise) to last me sever natural and other lifetimes. I am frustrated with the hoarding thing though. Really folks? TOILET PAPER?? Now if there was a run on Chardonnay, I'd get it. ;-). ~ET~ (PS....How did that happen to Jake??? He was just a kid last I remember!! Very handsome indeed!)
