Pug Wannabe ~

Merry Christmas eve eve :)
Today I drove an hour and a half south to pick up my new foster. She's a six month old girl named Hopscotch. She's got the tail of a pug...
...but not quite the face :) Doesn't she look like one of those dogs on the Internet wearing the false teeth?

We're not quite sure if it's the result of poor breeding, or perhaps she is a chug (chihuahua-pug) or a puggle (pug-beagle). {{Don't you just hate that people are breeding these mixed breed dogs and calling them "designer dogs" and charging big $$ for them?}}
So far, so good. She sat quietly on the passenger seat on the ride home and is sleeping on the couch next to me. She was spayed yesterday so she is probably still feeling the effects of the anesthesia.
Is this the face only a mother could love?
Dear hooker friend Karin gave us all these sweet little gingerbread guys last week at hooking. They smell WONDERFUL! Thank you Karin.
Since I was picking Hopscotch up ten minutes from the Carousel Antique Mall in Mansfield, Ohio, I left a few minutes early so I could make a quick stop there. I did find a few vintage Christmas items.
Can you help me out here? I'm trying to find a nickname for Hopscotch, something with a derivative of her name. Even though it's only two syllables, Hopscotch is not that easy to say. Hoppy? Scotchy? Any other ideas?
I guess I'm as ready as I will ever be for Christmas. I thought I would have all kinds of time to relax, but {BIG SIGH}, it wasn't meant to be.
Pug hugs :)
Lauren

Lauren, you might want to wait until you know more about the dog's personality to give her a fitting name. You are very kind to foster Pugs. Have a Merry Christmas, stay safe and warm. JB

Oh Lauren....I am sorry....I laughed so hard when I saw the pic of Hopscotch's face!! It's just tooooo funny with that overshot jaw! I guess you could call her Posh or Poppy maybe or how about Tosh. Her face does remind me of a puggle face and nothing irritates me more than designer breeds!! I better not get started as I can go on and on. Anyway....I have a secret so don't tell....I am about to get a foster dog in the next few weeks myself. I hope you have a WONDERFUL Holiday!

Bless you Lauren for taking another pug - or is it puggle? Wishing you and yours the best of holidays. Eloise sends her best wishes also.

She's funny but cute! Her fur looks more silvery gray than the faun pug fur.
I could rant and rave on and on about the 'designer' breeds and the puppy mills! I wish there were a law. But as long as people pay the big bucks, it will continue. See, I'm ranting already!
On a happy subject, I hope she does well for you and you and your family have a Merry Christmas!

I think hopscotch is a cutie pie! Looks like she is smiling... so how can a person not smile when they see her? Careful though... once the anesthesia wears off... she just might start talking!!! :-) Have a Very Merry Christmas! Oh... a nickname? How about Grinny?

You are good as gold Lauren for taking in another foster - This is a case of so ugly she's cute ! I think Hoppy would be an easy transitional name for her to adjust to - a new owner might want to change it again at least Hoppy is similar to her "given" name. I hope you have a very merry christmas ! Melody

Lauren, I just had a "feeling" that you'd have another foster in your home for Christmas.
Hopscotch is ADORABLE!!! How can you not love her???
Have a Merry & Pugful Christmas

Oh hopscotch is cute, she sure doesn't have the pug face. Love those teeth tho. I hate puppy mills and all they do.
How good of you to take in fosters. I know it must be hard to give them up tho. I would have a difficult time I know, but bless your heart for doing it.
Have a wonderful Christmas, I know it will be a good one for hopscotch.

ohhh, she's just a precious girl; I hope her owners didn't abandon her because she wasn't *perfect*
we used to comment on our Lola's looks too, and say that she was so homely she was cute...maybe hopscotch is part Lhasa Apso like Lola was?
How about Hopalong???? All I can think of right now; i'm getting punchy...
