Molly would like to wish everyone a happy National Pet Day.
I have been hooking on my hit 'n miss rug. I am pretty bored with it, but I am afraid if I set it aside, it will become a long time WIP. 31 of 40 squares are done. The color is terrible in this picture but nothing seemed to work in getting truer colors.
I also started a little cross stitch piece. Not a sampler, which I prefer to stitch, but a sweet little piece nonetheless. I'm thinking ahead to that "C" holiday.
I have started walking down to Lake Erie each morning. (It's not like I am walking that far . . . lol! I only live a couple blocks away.) The lake has been extremely calm. It is good for the soul to be outdoors.
I was talking with a neighbor today that I don't often talk with. I mentioned that if I didn't have my "hobbies" I would be absolutely stark raving mad. She asked me if I did diamond dot. I told her I had heard of it but it was not something that interested me. She then showed me a couple of her projects. The part that cracked me up was when she said she thought it was a pretty expensive hobby and proceeded to say that the one kit cost $14.00!!! (And for the record . . . it was not a case of that is all she could afford.) Don't you wish you had a project (whether hooking, applique, stitching, etc) that only cost that? Each to her own.

14.00??? Yeah right...when wool is 24.00 a yard and the new linen from Searsport is 24.99 a yard...
Knitting wool is out of sight...
And heaven help you if needlepoint is your passion. The simplest Christmas stocking pattern can be anywhere from 350.00 to 500.00
Lest we forget the current price of rug patterns...some are ridicuously over priced. Designers are complaining that their designs are being duplicated...well...stop with the overpricing and greed!!!
When I began hooking rugs well over 35 yrs ago here in New England...it was a craft dedicated to Yankee thrift...well that is long, long gone!!!
Your hit or miss looks wonderful. Remember 15 to 20 minutes a day...
Good Luck!!!
Happy Pet Day. Your hit and miss looks great and so well balanced. I already like your C stitching.
Just getting set up for rug hooking can be pricy, especially if one goes for the best tools and wool, especially here in Canada, we pay an arm and a leg for our supplies. It's a shame, mine is just sitting there not being used. My life has been busy and I'm not getting anything done around the house and yard. You're ahead of me.
Hugs, Julia
My granddaughter does the diamond cut artwork. Molly is a cutie petutie! Christmas...and I thought I was bad starting on Halloween. Finished up on some Halloween ribbon candy and now working on a kitty. Have to be ready for the store though. Loving your hit and miss. Janice
Not a fan of diamond dots myself but I’ve worked with women with mental illnesses and they seem to gravitate towards this craft. A very positive thing.
Happy Pets day to you ...I didn't know about that ...
Your Hit or Miss rug is just beautiful !
Everything I Love is expensive !!!! My favorite thing to do that is still free is going for nice long walks on the bike path ....until they charge us for that too !
Walking is good for the soul. We have wonderful Greenways in Nash and I try to walk them a couple of times a week. Yes, the last time I was at Hobby Lobby I saw kit for diamond dot (not a fan) and thought to myself "you need another hobby like you need a hole in your head." $14.00 for a kit, I just one hank of NPI silk which was $15.00
I must be totally out of it. I haven’t a clue what Diamond Dot is. I do know that I cannot have another hobby even if it does cost $14. How lucky to live so close to Lake Erie. Molly is adorable. How can you not love that face♥️
Addendum...How can you even think of Christmas woman!!!!
It looks like you are getting a lot done, maybe we just expect too much of ourselves.
I enjoy doing hit or miss when I don't want to think, just keep my hands busy, so a good rug to work on, in between other projects.
I wish I could just go out and walk, but I have to drive to places, I do love being outside and it is the best medicine.

I've seen the diamond dot thing... no matter how inexpensive it is, I don't see the finished piece as being durable. Yes... adhesive, plastic, paper... how long can that possibly last before the dots start to fall off (and get eaten by pets and small children)? Anyways, like you said, to each his/her own.
Now....woolly worms? They last FOREVER!!! lol!
OMG, hope you enlighten me on WTH diamond dot is. If it is even the same size than cross stitch it wouldn't be my thang but would like to see a sample. Wish I had a dog to share the holiday with. Meanwhile I'll work on hooking my boy Ben to celebrate that day.
