Rebekah L Smith Applique ~

I finally have progress to show on my applique from a recent class taken with Rebekah.  Considering the class was two weeks ago, you'd think I would have more done.

I use a Lap App when doing applique.  You can learn about it here if you are not familiar.  I find it handy to rest my hands on it while stitching.  It has a pocket for your scissors, magnet for your needle and posts to hold spools of thread if desired.

I also discovered if I add this little cutting board (there is a piece of rubbery shelf liner underneath to keep it from slipping) I can rest the piece on it and not worry about stitching it to the cover.  The battery operated light clips on and is a welcome addition to these old eyes if I am not sitting under an Ott light.  There are many of these lights that can be found on Amazon for under $20.

That's the quick update for today.  I need to pack my goods for tomorrow's hook in.  I also have goldenrod simmering on the stove to do some dyeing.  I will show you the results in another post.

Thanks so much for stopping by.
Pug hugs :)
Lauren

you are sooooo good at always getting me in trouble Lauren! Surely if I have a lap app I will be more successful with my English paper piecing and my future wool applique projects - right ! why of course. That went immediately on my Amazon list along with that power block that will power lights when stitching/hooking at guild meetings and run out of batteries or don't want to string cords up. We are all getting so tecky eh? Loved seeing your booth and also the rug exhibit. Always incredible all the opportunities to hook with groups you have. Take care and have a great weekend and YES I do love your blog - hugs Mel

Wonderful piece, I do love her work and have one of her books, more on my to do list.
That is a handy lap table, I used to have a nice one but it got old and fell apart, was made with bean bag for lap and a hard cardboard design on top, wish they still made those.

Love your stitchery and am ENVIOUS of your goldenrod dying project. I don't see or have any goldenrod in my yard, community or the roads I travel daily. So will enjoy your results and those of Jo.

I think that's good progress for two weeks. You are a busy girl after all. And you're off on another adventure!!

I thought Lap App was something for a phone. Glad you showed a photo.

Lauren,
Your applique looks great and inspires me to get out mine again. Now to get me a lap app because the last time I stitched on it I managed to stitch it to my pants while attending an auction. It was quite a sight and entertained everyone sitting around me.
