NOTE: Before I hit publish, the designer had already responded to me. She apologized and refunded my money within minutes. She is in Italy and said with the situation in her country, she has a problem concentrating. We can relate, can't we? I think this was an anomaly and I would not hesitate purchasing from her in the future. And I really hope to get a corrected version at a later date :)
So last night I started a little cross stitch piece. The chart was a PDF download from Etsy.
Working on 32 count linen which I've not used before. DMC floss, 1 thread over 2. All was going well . . . until I discovered that the upper case letter E is not charted (but is on the picture of the model). Easy enough to add the E, but then spacing is all wrong and since I already started stitching on row 2, I cannot just drop one letter from row 1 to row 2.
Upon further examination, the lower case alphabet, is how shall I say? WTH??? There is a mystery letter ~ I think it's supposed to be a k.
Then I notice that the lower case l, n, o, p and q are missing. (See above picture.) These are not stitched on the model. Is the "model" really stitched or is it just a computer rendering? And no. I do not find this charming.
I am not a fast stitcher and even slower when watching a show. Slower yet when it is Man in the High Castle which I find very confusing and needing much concentration. This is what I accomplished in 2 episodes. Kind of pathetic.
I have contacted the seller and asked for a corrected chart or a refund. To be continued . . .

It would be very frustrating after putting in all that work albeit her apology and customer service interests. For rug designs first thing I do is check the outer edge lines to be sure the pattern I purchased is drawn on the straight of grain. But checking every letter on a sampler??? No thanks, just add that as another reason I don't care for cross stitch.
Oh, Lauren, what a heart break! Talk about a design mess up but look at that beautiful rug Molly is sun-bathing on! Yeah!
I can relate to the concentration thing lord it is hard. Glad she was so prompt.

Well that would frustrate me too! I do know some samplers remove the letter J as that letter was not used in the 18th century...but clearly this designer does not know her alphabet. UGH. Janice
I stitched two French samplers by BBD and my little grand daughter noticed that there was no "W" in either sampler. I googled it and found that back in the day, the French did not use a "W" just as the early Americans did not use a "J'. I had stitched both samplers and NEVER noticed that the W was missing....leave it to Rory to find it! Hope your chart gets corrected!
It looks like a great stitch. Hopefully you can get the corrected version so that you can complete it. Yourstitchingislovely. Miss Molly is one lucky girl. She looks well settled in.
Well I guess it's resolved and sounds like she has excellent customer service. When you order a pdf, do you print it out or work from the screen?
She sure picked a fabulous rug to catch some rays.
Ok....this is just getting TOO DA*# WEIRD! As Marly as my witness, I, too, am stitching a nautical piece (something I've not done before that I remember), by an Italian designer (not the same as yours), AND had an almost complete melt-down after starting to stitch. It is done on a specialty 30ct linen and the instructions indicated it was stitched "1 on 2"...which I assumed was 1 OVER 2.... Although I thought it odd to be doing only 1 over 2 on that count, I did a couple of nights of stitching and it was looking NOTHING like the pattern model.... So, I contacted the designer and she (promptly) responded and said it was her mistake...the model was stitched 2 over 2. Since the model picture was what made me want to stitch the piece, I spent another night frogging.... After a good investment of time (and choice swear words), I just wasnt' happy.... I thought it was partly due to the fact that I was using Gentle Arts floss and had used a skein of one color that I had...but turned out I needed more than one skein...and none of the dozen or so additional skeins I ordered were even close to my original color. But...I sucked it up and said, hey...it's variegated...so mine is a bit more variegated. BUT....it is more than that...it is nothing at ALL like the model I so loved in terms of color...(and mine was NOT a pdf download...it was an actual paper pattern).... But I had stitched too much to take things out without completely ruining the linen...and, as I said, the linen was a specialty linen printed for this design...and NOT inexpensive. I love this particular designer and have done several of her patterns...but YIKES....this was a completely disappointing journey....and will be an equally disappointing destination me thinks. Tell me we are not living parallel lives.
I always think its me who can't count, but that was a very hard to miss glaring omission. One of my projects, had lots of glaring mistakes. I have found though in every case of using this persons patterns, things are off and miscalculated and even colors won't be the same from one side of the pattern to the other. But being a fan of this person, I just happily make the mistakes and go on. Haha, other times and I would say most of the time its just me. I figure, after visiting a antique store and seeing so many homeless stitchery and embroidery, that is what my kids will do with mine, so I just happily stitch along for my own enjoyment. I am so very glad that designer got back to you so promptly. Its a beautiful pattern and I love always seeing your work. At this time, though, I can't hardly stitch at all due to my state of mind. Soon it will pass I hope. We have Operation Gridlock at our state house today at noon.

I've learned that either I cross stitch, OR I watch a show/flosstube...I frogged more in 3 days than I have ever in my stitching career....lol! ;-)
Hi ! too bad about the chart mess up. If you tell me what you want to stitch - I will send you some photos and send to you. I have a whole store as you know, no I have a lot but not everything. Too bad you were in the mood to stitch and have all the mistakes in the charting. That is beyond annoying. I'm just catching up on blog reading and your dyeing is so wonderful. Molly is just THE CUTEST PUG and I just love seeing her!! She sure does make herself right at home, doesn't she?? Love that rug, too!!! They look perfect together!!!!
