Attention Span of a Gnat ~

That about sums it up.  (Thanks, Carolyn in Texas for that.)  Is it just me, or are you having a hard time concentrating?  My mind is just all over the place.  I am working on binding my hit 'n miss runner . . . so close to being done.

. . . working a little Halloween mat . . .

. . . and just about ready to start a fall applique runner . . .

. . . and a little cross stitch piece . . .

. . . and I'm going to try to join Saundra in hooking a cat's paw mat for a rocker.  Now when I get to that may be another story.

. . . and the list goes on.  I have several more small patterns on linen.  Easy pieces that I don't have to think about much.  Most of them will be gifts.

I have number of these storage cubes from Dollar Tree to keep everything separate.

Whatever I can do to keep my sanity in these trying times.  I feel I am one of the lucky ones.  I have my house, yard, Molly to walk and I do see my DSO daily.  Plus I have my hooking, applique, and cross stitching.  I'm sure I've asked before, but what do people do who don't have a hobby to fall back on?  Or who are cooped up in an apartment?  I hope and pray that we can soon flatten the curve and get to whatever our new normal will be.

And let me add ~ two, to, and too!!!

Thanks so much for stopping by.
Pug hugs :)
Lauren

Well....as long as we are on a grammatical wish list....can we pretty please teach law enforcement the difference between, and the correct way to use, personal pronouns and reflexive/emphatic pronouns?? "Myself and Officer Jones then detained the subject..." about pushes me over the edge LOL. (Hmmm...perhaps I AM getting a bit edgy....). Yes, I agree...I wonder about those who have no hobbies or interests...like my DH. Then, again, I've always wondered about him. ;-) We don't even have decent weather here yet to get outdoors. But soon...they say SOON! Wow...you're all kinds of ambitious....binding, stitching, hooking, oh my! Love your Halloween piece! Think I've talked Cat into dying some wool for me...if she ever comes up for breath from doing patterns. Be good and "busy" on ~ Robin

I have learned to keep busy and just not think about the why's and the when, otherwise it would drive me crazy.
If I could get my energy level up, then maybe I cold tackle the house, lol.

Donna and I just had this conversation. I have a stack of books I want to read. No attention span. I hook for awhile and wander a lot. I too feel lucky I have an old dirt road to walk and a house and yard that needs cleaning.
Stay healthy my friend

I feel the same way.I've toed to switch it up between reading ,knitting, cross stitch and wool applique. I can't do too much outside because of healing stress fractures in my foot.I'll just be glad when it's all over.

Yes, we are lucky to have our crafts to keep us busy. I'm the type who has to concentrate on one thing. But if it's not working for me, for once, I do go to something else. Right now, believe it or not, stitching is what is helping me. Stay safe!

I have multiple projects in progress, but only 1 of each type. As in 1 organizing, 1 needlework, 1 quilting, 1 quilt top making, etc. at a time. Unless a project is in time-out, I don't normally have multiples of the same thing happening.

How did the phrase "attention span of a gnat" ever come to mean easily distracted? It seems to me gnats are pretty focused and determined for long periods of time when I'm working in the yard and they want to fly into my ears, nose, eyes, etc. !

Totally agree with JustGail, those gnats definitely are annoying little buggers. Thank goodness for rug hooking and don't know how those who don't have a hobby manage daily during this pandemic either.

I've been baking more, don't know if this is good or not but my husband is not complaining.
I've gotten myself in some sort of a schedule and now thanks to the warmer weather and sunshine, I've spent more time outdoors until this gnat gets tired then I plop myself in front of my computer. Lol...

Show us how your gardens are doing. My lawn is still brown but things are starting to peek out including the weeds.

Stay safe and well.

I cannot begin to image what people without hobbies have been doing to keep themselves occupied during these times. The downsize, I want to stitch everything, start everything, have the perfect garden and complete the unread books.

First of all I laughed at your post name. Too funny. I am so busy I feel worse than a busy bee. Your Halloween mat is a nice one. Will the other pumpkin be orange? Janice

Hi Lauren,
I laughed at your title too, but feel like gnats are pretty determined and almost relentless is their quest to annoy you to death!! It is still funny though, and I get it!!
We all seem to be dealing with our situations differently and for me, I have been so focused on my rug I am hooking, I tend to let everything else go by the wayside!! I have TOO MANY THINGS to keep me busy and have been feeling a bit guilty about spending so much time hooking, but since I hadn't done ANY for so long, I am giving myself some grace!!! So happy that I too can stay home and so what I love and am praying for things to get back to a Better Normal very soon!! Happy you and DH are both well and that you are keeping busy!!!
Take care my friend!

Cute Boo mat! :-) I often wonder the same thing about folks who do not have hobbies.... I'm wearing my t-shirt that says "Quilting is cheaper than therapy"... cuz all the stitchy things really do keep me focused so that i stay sane... a lot more interesting than tv (or netflix) too!

My brain is a mess. I pretend not to worry, but my subconscious is running crazy. I cannot imagine not having a hobby. Or a yard and dogs. And having DH is a real blessing. Keep putting one foot in front of the other.
