Our day 3 class lecture was on borders, backgrounds, lettering and binding.
Here is Donna demonstrating how she does her lettering.
At the end of day 3, we had a throw down. It is so cool to see what everyone has been working on.
A Tish Murphy Santa pattern.
Two are hooking their beloved furkids.
This hooker has a son living in Texas and is hooking Cowboy Santa for him.
A moody sky over Lake Michigan.
And finally . . . my Santa. I am pleased with my results so far. Definitely a challenge for me.
Saundra, here are the wools chosen for his beard. The wool on the right is much grungier than it appears in the picture, but perhaps you will know what wool this is.
I am so happy I put on my big girl panties and took this class. If you are a hooker and have the opportunity to have a class with Donna, jump on it. This was totally outside my comfort zone but I learned so much from her. She is a true teacher and not just a color planner.
Thanks so much for stopping by.
Pug hugs 😊

Oh Lauren, it looks great. I'm glad you had a good time at class.
Your Santa looks great ! Wow , pretty amazing hooking projects !!!!
Donna's tablet reminds me of my primary school lessons, lol. But that makes sense to make perfectly level printing. Might have to try that on my DIL's gift. OMG, your travelmate's grandmother nurse piece is out of this world gorgeous!!!!
I do have some of that wool on the right but it is more like that photo than the color I see in your Santa.
Each and every one of these rugs is nothing short of gobsmacking. Wowza. Obviously Donna is a fantastic teacher judging by her students' works. I would be so very curious to see the changes to the sisters' rug - how Donna helps/helped transform it. (This whole intricate hooking thing/shading/facing/etc. is SO out of my wheelhouse and beyond me.) I am absolutely loving your Santa. I think Ole Jack just may have to step aside as your favorite rug??
