On our way to 250 ~

Every year DSO has a 4th of July cookout.  He is a most patriotic guy and lines his yard with American flags in addition to the large ones displayed.  He lives in a former shipyard and his front yard is a water filled channel.  Once upon a time the channel was a dry dock where they built 1,000' ore carriers.  When the carrier was finished, they would flood the dry dock and it would proceed upriver to Lake Erie.

The city puts on a great fireworks display and from his upper deck we have a perfect view.  There were many other private citizens also shooting off  huge fireworks.  I cannot even begin to imagine how much money individuals spent!

He also displays a listing of all the American casualties from the Revolutionary War to present day.  Some very sobering statistics.

About a month ago, my left heel started to be painful.  It has gotten really bad.  I mean bad like when I get up I can barely walk.  It does get better the more steps I take, but the pain never goes away.  I did not do a Google search because I was afraid of what I might read.  Ignorance is bliss, right?  Anywho . . . in a text I mentioned it to to Nurse Ratchet . . . er I mean retired RN Sue of Vernon Junction.  She said it sounded like a heel spur.  I did a quick search and it sure does sound like she has diagnosed me correctly.  I have my annual appointment with my PCP on Monday.  One more thing to discuss . . . sigh.

I hope everyone had the most wonderful 4th of July, doing whatever made you happy.

Thanks so much for stopping by.
Pug hugs 😊

I was going to go with Plantar fasciitis. Ouch! Hope you get relief. Your DSO’s celebration sound so meaningful and yes those numbers are very sobering.

The casualties of war list was staggering seeing them all in a row. Bad enough when listed individually, but the total was heartbreaking.
God Bless America and thanks to those who have kept us safe.

Wow! DSO's place looks and sounds amazing!!! (How fun to live in an old shipyard and have a water-filled channel in your front yard!) And his patriotic displays are fantastic! (Where did you find this guy??!) Those statistics are, indeed, sobering. I've been a long-time Civil War buff so had a clue about that one, but that's about it. I thought the craziness of the fireworks would settle down given the storms and rain but it doesn't seem to have been dampened.

What a tribute DSO's put on. I did not realize we lost that many soldiers in all those wars. Those who sacrificed their lives so we could be free. I always say I won the lottery by being born in this country, because there are so many other countries who do not care about the freedoms of their people. God Bless America. Land That I Love. What history too that DSO lives near a dry dock. The town directly to the North of us, called Marine City was a ship building town too. Tundra has barked the last two night with fireworks now. I am so sorry about your heel. I had some kind of pain like that a couple years ago. It is so painful. Nothing like it. I think that is so interesting about DSO. What an interesting place to live. I love that statue. I remember when he bought it. I love all of the flags he has . I will keep you in my prayers.

Ouch. Had a few at times, no idea why they left, but steroids helped. Staggering numbers. How did the pup handle the noise? First time ever, Monkey (my cat) crawled on her belly, never lifted off the floor! But we never had blasts as loud before.
