Why Rush?

Always a sad time when I must bid adieu to my Las Vegas son, Bill, and today was the day.

Here he is with his brother last evening.

J shaved his facial and head hair before chemo treatments started.  It had begun to grow back and yesterday it started to fall out in clumps.  His girlfriend says reality hit him hard.  His second round of treatments begins on Monday.  It just breaks my heart what he is going through . . . and there is absolutely nothing I can do.  It can be really tough to be a mom 😖.

So . . . when I moved to my home 25 years ago at the end of this December, there were the old fashioned roll up window shades, sheers and antique satin drapes on all the windows.  I removed the sheers and curtains and left the roll up shades.  It has been like that for the last 25 years!!!

Why rush in to window treatments😁?  I was going to make valances.  Didn't happen.  Then I thought I could con a friend in to making something.  Didn't know what I wanted.  Finally stumbled on these prairie curtains on Amazon (where else?) and decided to order one pair to see if I liked them.  I am happy with them 😉.  I needed seven pairs for the downstairs and the little landing leading to the second floor.  Now I am trying to order antique white ones for the upstairs in the same style but getting them in a timely manner is an issue.  Definitely changes the look.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  Now the mad rush to Christmas.  Less than a month away.  ARGH!!!

Thanks so much for stopping by.
Pug hugs 😊
Lauren

Am sure enjoyed the time you had with Bill and sad you only get to see him once or perhaps twice a year. Wise of J to shave as had he not it would have been even more shocking. I say a prayer each night for J and Trump.

Awww...look at those two boys of yours! So happy for you that you were all together to celebrate Thanksgiving...and, of course, I will continue to lift J up in prayer until you tell me he is 100% cancer free. As for the window treatment thing....just one more thing we can add to the twinship list. I've been here 36 years and only managed to get some wood blinds in the bedrooms to block out light. Oh, and I did get a valance and 2 curtains for the dining room and kitchen during WWR...but that was traumatic LOL. All other windows are completely nekked....cuz I just couldn't decide what I wanted. Funny, though...I was going to mention that, when I watched your home tour video, I loved your simple roll-up shades...but I was to gobsmacked over all your treasures. ;-) ~Robin~

I like them. I sewed a similar style in osnaburg but never really installed them. My friend knew the date her treatments would be over and that goal helped. Will be thinking about him.

Cancer is such a dreaded disease and for good reasons. Your son J is in my prayers and so are you. I'm glad that you had both sons with you for Thanksgiving.
The older I get the more I like simplicity. I know that a fresh look makes us feel good but I must be honest and say that I like the old roll-down shades, for the look and also for privacy. You have such a lovely home.

Hugs, Julia

Hi Lauren, gosh your boys are cute! I have two myself and when they are troubled or hurting, no matter how old they are, it’s a bad feeling when we can’t make things go away with a kiss like when they were little. I know you know that prayer is powerful so that is what we Mom’s can do. Keeping you and your family in my prayers.
Pretty curtains!
