This 'n That ~

Happy Thursday 😏  I can't believe it's been a week since I last posted.  Time is still flying by at a standstill.

I have been working on my little projects.  The punch needle is nearing completion.  Not worth showing a picture.  I had not intended to start another little Valentine cross stitch, but friend Bobbie gave me the heads up on another freebie, so decided to start stitching it, though none of the others have been "finished".  I grabbed a piece of linen that happened to be 28 count.  WOW!  The Xs seem so big.  I am stitching with 2 strands over 2.  It looks so different than the others, but I'm sure if I ever get them sewn in to little pinkeeps, they will look fine together.

I am closing in on finishing Wonky Love Heart.  Unlike Saundra who always plans ahead, I have no idea what I am going to hook next.

My annoyance with the USPS continues.  They are finally delivering packages in a timely manner.  However . . . I wanted to send paper hearts I made to family and friends.  I took a heart, a Valentine card, put them in a manila envelope and went to the post office.  "How much to mail these?" I inquire of the clerk.  Seventy five cents was the reply so I buy the stamps.  I get home, address the envelopes and mail them.  Two days later they are returned to me stating they have to be sent as a parcel for $4 +.  I head back to the post office and was just told that the clerk should have known better.  Too bad, so sad they basically told me.  Needless to say I was not going to spend $30 + to send them.  I ended up putting a few on my tobacco stick tree.

Thanks so much for listening to me gripe and for stopping by.
Pug hugs 😊
Lauren

Looks wonderful. Wish I could cross stitch. Too hard on the eyes, but I love it so much. Your hooking looks amazing! Have a great evening.

Now that quote and retraction from USPS would definitely piss me off!!!!!!!
What misnomer woman, I don't always know what I'm going to hook next....just like now. But it's winter and nowhere to go, nothing to do but sit in this house and figure it out. But an idea has been running thru my mind. Oh oh...me with a random idea? Maybe not so good, lol.

Aw....I mail them this way: I sandwich them in a little card, like a Hallmark or Dollar Tree greeting card, and I tape the edges of the card to slim it down, especially at the fold. I put it in its regular envelope, and I use my mighty weight to further compress the card/envelope. If it is less than 1/4" thick it can go with a 70-cent "Non Machinable Stamp." The pricing for the "parcels" is ridiculous. When I make them, I keep them pretty flat, just because of the mean old Post Office!

My friend and I were just talking about how it took 3 weeks for her to get a parcel from Ohio here to Michigan. We joked that she could have driven there and back a zillion times before it finally reached her by mail. Maybe the postal trucks ran out of gas since gas prices went up after the pipeline was shut down and they cannot afford it now. Love your love rug colors! Someday I will have time to hook just for myself. Janice

There was a plate on ebay of a pattern from England that one of my daighters has been collecting. The price of the 10 inch dinner plate was 5.00. Great deal...but the price of shipping was 12.95. Only three states from the seller to her front door.
RIDICULOUS!
Oh well...
You are all set for Valentines day with your tree!
Sincerely

Only you would ponder how tucks (that you will likely never ever "finish" finish anyways) of differing counts of linen will look together. Seriously???? I actually did that little one you just started...but long, long, time ago. I like your colors much, much, better. And true to form, our perfectionist GT is driving me crazy with her amazingly uniform hooking. The only thing anyone ever told me I did beautifully was write legal documents. Yeah, not exactly a thing to aspire to. :-( And, gee....don't tell me if one of those sweet hearts was headed this way or I might go postal. Seriously, though, I still think what they told you was completely wrong. I have mailed a lot of things....I weigh them on my own postal scale and purchase the postage through PP....as long as it is less than 13 ounces, it is really inexpensive to send. ~ET~

I don't blame you, I sent a few masks in a large envelope and it cost 9 bucks, it is getting ridiculous and unaffordable at this point.
I am thinking of doing handmade art cards for Christmas, something I can send with a stamp but a piece of art they can keep, we shall see.

you might want to get rid of the last comment unless you need a spell caster for the USPS lol.
I hate the USPS too I mailed 2 packages the same day and both got ripped open and lost the contents. Well they are insured I do everything on line then I get a paper to send it all the same info again. I take it to the post office they look at me like I lost my head and have no idea what to do with it. So I have to put a stamp on it and mail in all the same info. Yesterday I get a letter stating that I didn't get it in in the 30 days they required! Um What! it is because of your crappy mail service! Now it wasn't much but it is the principle of the thing!! something needs to be done!
I have not been very productive either but I am so busy weeding out and cleaning I sure hope I get to sit and hook again soon.

USPS is totally negligent & incompetent...no wonder they're going broke! I sent a charger in a small manila envelope. I put three fifty-five cent stamps on it..it took three weeks to get to my son's house, which is three hours away...but it did arrive. Ridiculous! I love your wooden tree with the hearts...that is so, so sweet!!! Your hooking is beautiful and I love the color palette! I stitched my little freebie in 3777. Now, I too, have to make it into a pillow! Have a great weekend!!

Venting is a good thing!!!! I am finally (finally) receiving linen which I ordered six months ago and prepaid for it! Lesson learned. The Love Never Fails is one of my favorites.

Like the post office, I'm late at visiting my blogger friends. That is a ridiculous price to mail such a small envelope.

It seems that even though retired, I never seem to have enough hours in a day to do everything I need to do and time is flying by at such a rapid pace. We are almost already halfway through February. Helping my husband with yearend filing and filling all kind of online business government employers' forms for tax purposes et... (sigh)
HAPPY VALENTINE DAY to you. ❤️

Your Love mat looks great and I love how that thin orange line cleverly frames the letters. so beautifully.

It gorgeous day here and so far winter has been so mild. That's one good thing...
Hugs, Julia

Love how your hooking is coming along! That's a beautiful teal!
I took all of my auctions to the post office yesterday....and boy oh boy was I in for a surprise with what mailing stuff costs these days. I think that if it is thicker than (just under) an eight of an inch, it is considered a parcel. Something about jamming the machines...
Anyways, how's your foot? Has it been 6 weeks?

I asked to trace the board they use to measure envelope thickness and use it a lot. If it's a little thick I use a 9 x 12 which can be up to 3/4" for first class postage. A 6" x 9" can't be over 1/4" thick or it's package rate. But another clerk told me that ain't true. But I still follow those measurements and see if they fit through the guide.
