Measure Twice ~ Cut Once

I measured only once and cut the wool to bind Wonky Love Hearts.

Ugh, I cut it all just a bit too short which caused problems in the corners.  When I realized what I had done, I should have started over but did not.  BIG mistake.  I am not happy, but unless I want to take it out and begin again (which I really don't), I will have to live with the ugly corners.

I started hooking the background of Peter Rabbit with the top wool.  It just seemed too light so I was happy to find the wool on the bottom in my stash.  I think it may be called "seeded blue" or some such thing.  I like it much better and I think I will be able to mix in some of the lighter wool.

Here is just a little sneak peak of my challenge rug.  You will have to hop on over to Saundra's blog to see all the rugs being hooked in her challenge.  I am not very far along and have already learned two things.  When I came to the realization that cotton was not going to form nice loops like wool, things hooked up a little more quickly.  The other thing I learned?  I PREFER WOOL!!!

This about sums me up 😁

Thanks so much for stopping by.
Pug hugs 😊
Lauren

That heart rug looks wonderful and only YOU would see an issue ~ looks fine. Woman, I couldn't agree more with the the wonderful wool comment but am so darn glad I at least tried it and it was a fun experience to share with other rug hookers.

I can't see anything wrong with the corners. They look fine to me and the Heart looks great. Your bunny rug looks amazing. I like the look and feel of wool better also. I never tried hooking with rags although I've seen some amazing rugs hooked with rags and lots of details.

Hang in there, Lauren. Only 27 days to spring. Yep! I've started the countdown.

Hugs, Julia

I stopped hooking my animal rug because I dont like the background I started. Will have to redo it at some point. UGH I say with your rug it just looks more primitive. Do you ever buy wool online and if so where do you get it from. I use to buy mine at the Holly show...and well no shows since covid hit. Janice

I don't think your corners look bad but if they bother you, add a button. Or a knot.

I won't sleep tonight worried about that panda.

I love the heart rug just as it is! the colors are wonderful!
Feels like it has been 6 years packed into one since Covid started
Did you make the heart pattern yourself?

Wonky heart looks great! We see the imperfections, but those viewing the work just see the beauty. Unless, of course, it's at a crafts fair. Then, they see the imperfections and demand a discount. Ha ha but they still want it!

Just what is it, exactly, that you don't GET about the word "wonky"??? Since your hooking is anything but wonky, you needed to add some wonkiness somewhere...and truly, it will only be noticeable to you. Did I ask you already how it is that you attach the wool in the first place? Did you do a tutorial on this or am I shadow dreaming LOL?? Of course you are going to make hooking even with rags high class. This must be an exercise in pure torture for you not being able to have your perfectly perfect little rows (although these are pretty dang close) LOL. Can't wait to see more. ~Robin~

Forget the corner, no one will notice but you....that being said, I feel your pain. Love those background blues. I have tried pulling up cotton.. wears your hands out. The sneak peek looks sweet.

We must be sisters from different Mothers--I don't want to count the times I have cut something to short Ugh! And I feel exactly like that bear just trying to hang on I ordered some blues for background today--hope they will work.
