Better than Nothing ~

I finally picked up my hook yesterday.  Not much to share, but something is better than nothing, right?  It's Christmas gift #2 :)

I don't want to start a larger project until my Cindi Gay class next month.  I've chosen a largish (for me) eagle pattern from my stash.  It looks like the class is really going to happen!!!  It will be my first real outside adventure in more months than I care to think about.

A few more pictures around the yard.  Last night a storm came through and we got some much needed rain.  Not nearly enough, but once again, something is better than nothing :)

I love this birdbath that I picked up at a yard sale for a couple bucks last year.  Have not yet seen one bird in it.

My lone little ruffled petunia in my old wheelbarrow.  The only flower since the deer decided to eat them :(

Don't you just love peonies?

One of my two little rose bushes.  I pretty much have a green thumb but not much luck with roses.  I need to get some spray because the leaves are being seriously eaten on both the plants.

The baby bathtub is filling in nicely.  Very invasive spiderwort in front.  They are pretty when in bloom but afterwords are quite scrappy looking.

Porch on the north side of my house.

Thanks so much for stopping by.
I hope everyone is still healthy and not yet too crazy.
Pug hugs :)

Hi Lauren,
So happy to hear your Cindi Gay class is a GO!!!!! Good news indeed!!!!! Your little snow guy is so cute, too!!!
As always, I so admire your beautiful yard AND your green thumb!!!! Wonder if I painted mine green if it would help???
Anyway, enjoy your week and hope you are feeling better and less "funky!"

Soon the birds will realize it is there and will rely on it for water and bathing. I love watching the birds flapping their wings and shaking about in my birdbaths.
Your snowman is already cute with his misshapen stovepipe hat. I recently found a small mat I'd drawn years ago as something to sell during the fall craft show. Maybe that will be on my frame sometime soon as something for me or maybe two ~ one for me and one for DIL.

Something is better than nothing--you have a great start. Am going to try to return to stitching 30 minutes in the morning. I am much more productive--not so tired or distracted from the events of the day. Yes, peonies are one of my favorites!

You're really getting a jump on Christmas.

Love your beautiful yard. So you have deer roaming the neighborhood? Woods close by with not enough for them to eat?

Oh to have a covered porch with swing.

Who did that new rug you are working on? I love that face. Your garden is so pretty.
I am so glad you get to go to a rug hooking. I bet you do need to get out.
Have a great weekend.

I'm glad that you are hooking again. My hook is feeling Covid-19 isolation in a drawer. Once in a while, I glance at my poor neglected frame and just sigh.

Your yard is looking well cared for and the little bathtub filled with blooms is so cute. So sorry about the deers eating your petunias. We have deers too and my son in law put an invisible fence around the vegetable garden in the back but they came in my yard and ate some buds off one of my peonies. Last year I hung some old socks and poured some scented shower gel on them every few days and it kept them out of the garden.
Stay well and happy.
Hugs, Julia

Everything looks so pretty. Everything in your yard and house is always perfect! Mine is just too big to take care of by myself. Your swing on what I assume it the back patio looks so nice and relaxing. I really love your bottle tree. I want one. How did you get started? What is the form thing that holds the bottles. Is there a meaning behind it? Was is a southern thing? I seem to remember reading about them in the late Pat Conroy's wonderful novels. Melinda

My crazy leaked out long time ago...yeah, even before the COVIDness...and whatever this new nightmare is being called. Your yard looks so lush and full....It is the look I have always strived for, but can't do it with those slithery things that insist on claiming this as their turf. I love your new start...and wowsers...you are getting a start on Christmas. Are you sure that Christmas will even be socially "acceptable" this year???? I was making decent progress on the whale...but ran into a bit of a snafoo....and finally ripped it off my frame tonight. Never had an issue with deer eating my plants here...even though they are "up close and personal" in my yard daily/nightly, but I hung 1 plant (a Begonia which I had her weren't particularly palatable to deer) at the lake and it was stripped down to nothing.... Grrrr... How frustrating! Nice score on the bird bath! ~Robin~

Your yard is so lovely!! Love the ruffled petunia. I don't know if they are common in California.

Oh, to go somewhere, anywhere...LOL I'm planning a mini-trip to a friend's at the end of the month. I'm hoping that all goes well. I'm taking my car, so minimum contact.

That bird bath is darn cute. The birds in my yard just wait until I water and then scoop up the water from the lawn. LOL

As usual, it all looks so inviting . Do hope your class is a go. I would have been packing for Caraway today...so sad.
