Challenging Challenge!!!

Happy hump day!  It was a gorgeous day here on Ohio's north coast.  Sunny, low wind and in the upper 40's.  I will take that kind of weather any time I can get it in March.  Sadly tomorrow it will be cloudy with a high of 32*.  Welcome to Ohio.

As I've said previously, I found Saundra's challenge very challenging.  I know many enjoyed using alternative fibers to hook.  I was not one of them.  Am I glad I did it?  Mostly yes.  Will I do another?  HELL NO!!!

I was this close to finishing my background using an old t-shirt when I ran out.

I had another that was somewhat close, so I did what our foremothers would have done and used it.  Not too bad and I am kind of glad I ran out.  The background color is actually the color in the previous photo.  I thought it was black, but sometimes it looks like a very dark navy.

I used cotton, paisley, sari ribbon, two kinds of wool yarn (oh, the olive green was a bear to hook with), one little strip of velvet and a cotton t-shirt.  The finished size is 12 3/4" x 15 1/2".

Thanks to Saundra for putting this on and for all the wonderful updates on her blog.

Some good great news.  I had my six week post op appointment on Monday.  Things are looking as they should and I can drive and wear a real shoe.  WOO HOO!  The first place I drove?  To the hooking shop Monday eve 😁

My next big driving experience was on Tuesday to get my mammogram.  Gotta take care of those tatas. I haven't yet gotten the results, but am hoping and praying all is well.

Thanks so much for stopping by.
Pug hugs 😊
Lauren

Your challenge rug turned out fantastic even though you hated every minute of it. I'm happy that the healing is going well and that you can wear shoes and drive again.

Yes, you need to take care of those tatas, for me it only one ta to take care of. lol

Hugs, Julia

I loved the fact you ran out of background too because that filled in space gave it the look of what our foremothers would have done ~ the colors were similar yet not exact. Yup, gotta take care of all our parts as there's no warranty, lol.

I absolutely love how the tulip came out. I know, you did not enjoy the cotton and other fibers, but the end result is so lovely! And glad the foot is healing properly and you can zip around on errands again!

so glad your foot is healing nicely and your fist stop was the hooking store.
I am with you I will not be doing another one of those rugs! I tried to hook with yarn (granted it was thin) but I hated that too and pulled it out. Glad I did it but very glad it is done.

I saw your rug on Saundra's blog. So beautiful! You did an awesome job on this challenge! We had flurries on and off all day today. Looking forward to Spring. So glad you are free to wear shoes again. I would have gone to the hooking shop too. :-) Wish we had some of those here. :-( Janice

Sure....everyone has Sari ribbon hanging around, right?? ;-) Your little challenging challenge piece turned out swimmingly!!! And as I said on Saundra's post, leave it to you to have the tidiest little loops and most precise corners and edges...even in alternative textiles. Really, the background is a tshirt??? You must have better quality tshirts over there in O-HI-O than we do in Nod.... That almost could pass for wool. Speaking of tshirts, I should see if I could find one with your "Save the Racks" saying for Little Crow. He wore his pink "Save the Boobies" one to pieces LOL. ~Robin~

It looks really cool though. So you didn't like it? I think it would have been a fun challenge. I am so glad you are almost back to normal. Wearing shoes is a big deal.
You always do such interesting things.
I hope you have a great weekend. This is our last warm day for awhile.

You help me smile! Will I hook another? Hell no, now that's a Betty answer. And the first place you drove? The hooking store, yes you do have your priorities aligned correctly. Glad you are healing.
