Getting out of Dodge ~

DSO and I are heading out tomorrow for a little get-away to Branson, MO.  The weather sounds pleasant, low 70's (though every day the forecast changes), so I need to leave my winter clothes home.  Of course I have not yet started to pack.  I just hope I can remember where my warm weather clothes are!!!

We will take two days to drive there, since it is about a 12 hour trip before stops.  Thankfully DSO will do most if not all of the driving.  I will hook my way to Missouri.  I need something totally mindless, small and easy.  Plus I need a little Halloween hooked piece to gift an old classmate when I see her in June.  Scaredy Cat fits the bill.  I have hooked him several times ~ what's once more?  At only 8.5" x 11" I hope to get him done.  I am so grateful the designated driver does not mind wool dust 😁

Sweet little Ernestine . . . in the eight years since she has been adopted, she has never been boarded at a kennel.  The normal pug sitter is out of town, so there is no other choice.  Poor baby will sure miss sitting in daddy's lap and cuddling him in bed!

Just wanted to pop in with a quick post because most likely will not post until my return.  I still haven't figured out how to blog on my iPad.  Tech challenged, you know!

Birthday Card Request ~

Quick Teapot Update ~

The teapot is hooked!!!  At long last.  As you can see, I've eliminated the base and lid, but kept the handle and spout as required.  I am not going to hook the background.  I will cut it out and mount it on either Halloween fabric or perhaps black and white ticking.  You will know more when I do 😁

The Struggle is Real ~

I have been hooking for twenty years.  I have hooked many a pumpkin.  This is just a pumpkin with a handle and a spout.  Why is it giving me such fits?  You'd think I never hooked a pumpkin before.  Three different light wools tried for the "whites" of his eyes.  Changed the size a couple of times.  I think it's taken me two days to hook the darn eyes!!!  I am calling them done.  The left eye looks a little flat on the one side.  Oh, well.  Oh, hell.  I just want this #*%^ blasted teapot done.

Lookee what I found!!!

#1. . . I am still purging in the attic but actually found this in a cupboard in the dining room.  A 4" bunny mold.  Too bad I didn't find it a couple weeks ago 😁

#2 . . . St. Nick and his reindeer has been MIA for years.  Purchased from the most talented Rhonda Smith in 2020, he disappeared after Christmas.  I found him today in the attic in the unmarked shipping box he came in at the opposite end of the Christmas room in the attic.  What a pleasant surprise 😂

Typical springtime in Ohio.  Windy and cold.  Warm and humid.  Thunderstorms followed by sun.  So much yardwork in my small yard . . . and so unmotivated!!!  I did work outside today until the raindrops brought me in.  I hate working in wet plants.

It's a Small, Small World ~

So yesterday was a "play day" with a couple like minded, antique loving friends.  Our first stop was a VERY upscale antique show about an hour and a half from home.  Soon after arriving, I ran in to a hooker friend and her husband . . . no real surprise because I have run in to them on several antiquing excursions.  A while later, I am in a booth and hear a man and woman people talking about Rug Hooking Week at Sauder Village.  Of course I had to butt in!!!  Turns out the dealer recognized me from a guild I belong to (but am not active in because of the distance) and reads my blog 😉.  So we are talking hooking and another woman in the booth says she is also hooker!!!  She, too, reads my blog and was surprised to find out I lived in Ohio.  So the three of us are on our phones sharing pictures of our rugs 😁.  Not pictures of our kids, grands or furkids, but RUGS!!!  So nice chatting with you, Debbie and Sharon ~ and thank you for reading my blog.

My meager purchase was a postcard size original painting by Stacy Enoch.  If you are on Facebook, you may have seen some of her work.  Her work is absolutely amazing.  What talent.  

I could have spent 100 times more at the show.  Truly wonderful antiques but most too rich for my blood.  I did see one antique sampler I was in love with that was reasonably priced, but decided against buying it.  So ironic because before leaving wanted to show a spice cabinet that was next to the sampler to my partner in crime .  The same sampler was tempting her, too, but she too passed on purchasing it.

We made several other stops along the way.  I purchased a few odds and ends but nothing spectacular.  I did purchase my first grinding stone so that may be the start of a new collection😲.  For now it is sitting on top of a milk can but will eventually find a place in the yard.

The teapot rug has been started . . . just barely . . . and is nothing like I envisioned it.  I had a much harder time coming up with a design than I thought I would.  We had to keep the round "body" of the design and the handle and spout.  I have opted to give it a stem and will eliminate the base.  Oh, well . . .

Dragging My Feet ~

I still haven't started my darn teapot challenge hooked piece.  I still have a couple months to git 'er done, but I would like to be able to cross that off my "must do" list.  I had planned to start it after binding Primitive Chickens, but opted to hook a couple "littles" to top cigar boxes that are hook in door prizes.  

Once again I opted to add a little something to the inside.  The red box is a slide top box.

The other two are hinged boxes.  

I have a problem with the hereafter.  I enter a room and wonder what I am here after!

Easter Around the House ~

 

Another Easter will soon be in the past.  It just dawned on me I never found the Dancing Bunnies rug to display.  Always next year, God willing.

I probably put out more Easter than many people put out at Christmas.  (They are much smarter than me!)  Here is a quick trip around the house!

In my purging, I found this little bunny who hasn't seen the light of day in many moons.  Part of the old trim on her apron is falling apart.

Isn't this just the sweetest?  Lift her dress and there is a baby bunny💘

Decor in no particular order.

Sweet egg painted by my mom and the two bunnies are one of the few ceramic items I painted back in the day.

Vintage papier mache Easter eggs, from the Garman Democratic Republic or West Germany, likely dating to the mid-20th century.  Geez, I guess that makes me vintage 😁

Lastly (though there are other Easter items not shown) my newest Easter acquisition.  I am so happy I decided to have him come home with me!
