Trick-or-Treat

A couple readers asked to see my Halloween decorating.  It is pretty much the same as every year.  The only thing I added to my collection this year was a skeleton bride and groom (Day of the Dead?).  I did find a couple plastic pieces from the 50's I was tempted to purchase but not for the prices being asked.  Maybe next year???

Hopefully you don't get any tricks ~ only treats.

Hump Day Happenings ~

Well, really not much happening, but I have WONDERFUL news to share with you.  As many of you will remember, just over a year ago, my younger son who lives locally, was diagnosed with testicular cancer.  He had no symptoms and it was not caught early, so he had to have surgery and do a round of chemo which absolutely kicked his butt.  They told him recovery could be a year and they were not far off.  A couple weeks ago they did scans once again and the good news is they found no evidence of cancer.  Tomorrow he is having his port removed (which he referred to as his third nipple 😁).  This mom cried some happy tears!

Brenda ~ I could not respond to you personally, but I am vending at the Richland County Fairgrounds on November 8 at the Gathered Treasures show.  If you make it to the show, please introduce yourself!!!

Nancy (of the Wooden Folks) has inspired me to make a light colored snippet garland.  Thanks, Nancy.

Time to get back to "show" prep.

Another Monday ~

These Mondays are coming along much too often!!!  Whodda thunk time could pass this quickly?

As I've said many times, I am my own worst enemy.  I am always meeting myself coming and going.  I am a list maker.  Every day I have at least one list of things to do and those lists have sticky note lists on them.  I am vending at one more show this year.  There was an opening in a primitive/antique show and I thought it was a great idea to get rid of more stuff.  NOT!!!  When I was looking at what I had left over it didn't seem like I had enough to fill a booth.  So I have been searching cupboards and the attic.  And yes.  I am finding lots more stuff.  Also trying to make a few things to sell.  I have been to the park several times gathering walnuts for some garlands and also making these wool snippet garlands.  Totally mindless but more time consuming than you would imagine.  Why can't I get the color right?  Neither of these pics is good and I finally gave up 😡

You have probably seen a bit of my hook-along rug progress on Saundra's blog.  Here's where I am.  Soon it will just be the hit and miss border.  I am not wild about what is hooked so far, but I will learn to like it!  I am not changing it!!!  I am thinking the entire rug may get a walnut bath when done.

Not much else going on.  My fall yard cleanup is almost done . . . but still need to bring in some yard junk.  Lots of piddly miscellaneous things needing to be done before winter 😢.  Neither my yard boy nor my cleaning person ever show up, so I guess it's all on me . . . sigh.

WIPs

Projects being worked on at the hook in.

Remember I showed you this huge rug a couple weeks ago?  It is very near completion!!!

So many sweet "blocks".

Can you tell I absolutely love that rug?

Hand torn pumpkin

An extra large punch needle.  WOW!

And beautiful applique that will become a pillow!

I did make some progress on my hook-along rug to be shared at a later date.

Today I went to a local hooking get together.  We had not met in a couple months and it is just back to getting started once again.  It was just me and hooker Mitsuko who was working on binding this antique adaptation.  I started that same rug a few years ago and really must get back to it one of these days!

Back Home . . . Once Again

On the way to the Fall Fling, we stopped at one of my favorite antique malls.  Still a high quality shop, but not as good as in the past.  There were a couple items that tempted me, but I left empty handed 😞

The Fall Fling in Troy, Ohio was great fun as always!

Vendor booths with so many wonderful items for sale!

We stayed at a BnB.  Check out this cathedral door in one of the bedrooms.  (Oops.  Didn't realize that my reflection was in the door.)  Each of the doors upstairs had that additional molding on the top third of the door.  I started to ask the proprietress about it, but we got sidetracked and I never did get an answer.

Check out this amazing sunset.  Gotta love mother nature.

Next post I will share some of the projects being worked on.

Adios Once Again ~

I feel like I just got home . . . oh wait I did . . . and I am taking off again.  I wish the get aways were not so close together, but I must take advantage of fun when I can.  Tomorrow I am off to the Fall Fling, about three hours south.  It is a two day hooking event put on by the Wooly Horse, Rustic Eweniques, Jo's Folk Art Fibers and Ali Strebel Designs.  Three of us are driving down together and will meet up with several others.  Our first stop will be to one of my favorite antique shops ~ where I hope I don't find anything I can't live without 😁.

I'm sure many of you have read about Saundra's hook along.  She has posted a few pictures on her blog.  It's hard to believe that Nancy has already finished hers and it is wonderful!  She gets the overachiever award for sure.

I did get mine started but not a whole lot hooked so far 😞.  But hey, it's a start and hope to accomplish lots more at the hook in (though I usually don't!).

Last night I pulled a few more loops.  Normally my go-to favorite size of worms is an 8.5 (8.5/32"), but after hooking most of the dark outlines in a 10 (10/32"), the 8.5 felt miniscule!  And to think many hookers use a 3 cut (3/32") and some even a 2 cut (2/32" ~ dental floss to me) . . . oh, my.  But they can get detail and shading that I cannot.

Our weather here in northern Ohio has been beyond beautiful (though sadly no rain).  I have worked a bit cleaning up the gardens but have so much more to do.  It's a never ending task.

The other Nancy ~ whoever you are ~ can you please send me your email address?  I would love to be able to respond to your comments.  They are much appreciated.

Thanks so much for stopping by.
