Computer Issues ~ UGH

My computer died last Saturday so it was off to Best Buy for a new one.  I am old fashioned, I guess.  I have an iPad but we don't get along too well.  I prefer my desktop.  I was assured if I paid the Geek Squad to transfer my files, all I had to do was bring it home, plug it in and I was good to go.  N-O-T :(  When my DSO plugged it in yesterday, nothing was where it had been.  Everything was in one location.  All my email contacts are GONE.  Their definition of ready to go and mine was totally different.  So . . . this will be a learning experience for me.  DSO got my email set up and I will have to rebuild my contact list.  Now I have to learn a new operating system.  Like most people, I'm not wild about change but I don't have a choice . . . sigh.

I do have a few finishes to share . . . BUT . . . I can't get the pictures to load to the blog.  I am able to choose files, the pictures load there, but they won't load to the blog.  I am getting frustrated.

Oh, I just figured I could drag the pictures to my post.  Yippee.  Here is my first finish.  Finally finished the snowman with the braided edge.  I like the look but not sure how often I'll do this.

I was going to make a little wool sprig, but for now took the easy way out.  Of course I could not find my spare greens, so I cut a few pieces off the bottom of a small Christmas tree.

The theme for this year's Western Reserve guild hook in is "beach party".  Members were asked to hook a small mat or two for door prizes.  Not quite beach party, but I think these will do.  The whale was whipped with 8 cut wool.  I've just recently started finishing that way and I do like the look.

This one was finished with wool binding.

Thanks so much for stopping by.
Pug hugs :)
Lauren

I know all too well about having a computer crash. Until the WIN 7 OS crashed I didn't have an external hard drive large enough to hold everything. NOW I DO.

Good luck saving all the emails of friends in your file when they write you.

I like the braided edge and I like the whipped edge and the other one too. They all look wonderful. I am so sorry about your computer issues. I don't like having to learn new operating systems either. You will get it Lauren. :)

I have the same problem, I can get some things but not others on the new machine and then some programs won't work on newer models, another way to get us to buy more, it's a pain.

Love the braid on the snowman, thinking of doing a hooked and braided rug for my beach room.

Sorry about the computer crash. It's no fun when that happens but I'm glad you could drag the photos to your post.
I love your three rugs. Cute finish on that snowman. I've been thinking of whipping a rug with cut wool but still haven't tried it.

Today was a stellar day with the sun shining strong but rain for the next two days.

Hugs,
JB

Yep. All my files were in a downloaded folder or something. Photos were easy to transfer back as a group. I couldn't find the email lists so I hit the bottom left windows logo and typed contacts in the search bar. Bingo. You would think they would be in the Mail program but nope.

My desktop has been just a little fritzy lately.
Most of us just don't have the time to deal with 'one more thing'.
Your whale hooking is so fun !
I've not tried binding with wool strips. I tend to favor a yarn whipped edge. Would like to try the wool strip method - looks great !

Good morning, Lauren. Your work is wonderful! The braided edge is so cute and perfect for the snowman. I like the edge on the other two, makes it seem that the ocean and sky keeps going...Have a wonderful day!

Dang computer problems! Nothing more frustrating, huh? That braided edge really makes the snowman rug - cute! Your beach rugs are adorable - some lucky person will be VERY happy with their door prizes!

Sorry about your computer issues. I am not big on change either.

It is frustrating to set up a new system. I remember when I upgraded my iphone the girl said everything would transfer. I had several pic of Mom on the phone and I told her if she lost even one of them there would be hell to pay. She was sweating during the transfer. Lol

I sure wish I could help get your stuff all transferred... Geek Squad did a real sloppy job! grrrr...
Love the finish on your frosty mat! The binding and sprigs really jazzed up a simple design! :-)

Computer problems and crashes are very frustrating. I've learned to hard way to always back up everything then if computer crashes or dies you won't loose important contacts and info. I have a external back up system connected to my main computer which automatically backs up everything.

So hard for those of us not born to computers to get the new stuff. The grands could do it in a second. I haven't tried whipping with wool strips. Your finishes look great. Especially the braid. I love the look, but hate the process.
