Hooking Room Gone Bad ~

Who was I kidding?  Did I really believe switching my small hooking room for a larger one would cause me to be neater?  More organized?  Wool stacked neatly by color on shelves?  You haven't seen pics of my new hooking room (that was moved months ago) because I haven't yet gotten all my rugs hung.  That's my story and I'm sticking to it.  I wish I could say it was organized chaos, but at the moment it's just chaos.  Maybe I'll embarrass myself in to cleaning it soon :)

This antique table is actually a wonderful barn red.

Do I really need two hooking frames that I am not using on the floor?

Even Ellie wonders why there is such a mess.

The sunflower rug is a pattern by Cathy G of Red House Wool Studio.  On the frame is my latest rug.

I finished the hooking on my Magdalena style runner.  At 15" x 46" it is the largest rug I've completed to date.  I hooked it in five weeks which for me is really fast!

The biggest change I made was reverse hooking the two rows of lighter orange I had around the bird.  I like it much better.  This was a fun one to hook and hopefully I will actually get it bound soon.  I will keep you posted.

Spring has Sprung ~

Spring has finally arrived here on Ohio's north coast and what glorious weather we have had recently.  The daffodils were magnificent this year.  Never before have I had so many blooms.  This is about the last of them :(

So much is blooming around the yard . . .

Heavenly lilac . . .

Butterfly made from old horseshoes given to me by dear friend Wink many, MANY years ago.

My sweet trillium . . .

LOVE the bleeding hearts!

My simple weathervane atop the garage.

Today I took grandson Jake to a circus that was at the local fairgrounds.  We're not talking Ringling Brothers here.  What a cheesy circus it was, but Jake enjoyed it so that's all that matters.  I purchased the tickets online since it was half off the adult admission.  Can you believe $9 in service fees for two tickets?  What a racket!  $10 snow cones (in a light up glass) and $8 boxes of popcorn!!!  An even bigger racket!

A couple pics that Jake took of the animals in the petting area.

Cool Jake in his shades.  He is getting so grown up!

My rug is very near completion.  I had hoped to finish today, but I'd better think about sleep instead of hooking!

Thanks so much for stopping by.

The End ~ At Last

Here are the last of the rugs from the Ann Arbor hook-in.  These three were "painted" with wool.

This rug was very interesting.  Some of it was sculpted (Waldoboro?).

The background appeared to be somehow woven rather than hooked.  It looked like a basket weave.

I adore these geranium pots.

Just for fun.

Another version of Jonah and the Whale.  I believe it's a Woolley Fox pattern.  This was my favorite rug of the show.  SO MUCH BETTER in person.

* * * * *
Between my day job and yard work at two houses (after 6 months, having lowered the asking price 4 times, I think, I still can't even get a nibble on my mom's house I've been trying to sell.  It's now listed at about 60% of what she paid for it 11 years ago.  You can't convince me the housing market it improving!), I have been a hookin' fool.  I want to finish my Magdalena runner before class next Tuesday.  It will be close but I'm not sure if I will make it.  I'm also getting anxious to start a new project though I haven't yet decided what it will be.

Thanks so much for stopping by.
