How much fun can fifty cents buy?

When you are five, a whole evening's worth!!! I found this pair of "goo goo eyes" at a garage sale for fifty cents. My grandson Jake had so much fun with them. He even tried them on Eema, but not having a snout, it didn't work for a second.

Make sure you hold your tongue correctly!

Here's the last of my pictures from the hook-in at Kingwood Center. These are vintage rugs. I love this one. It would be a fun one to hook.

Last Sunday, Eema and I attended a dog event to promote adoption and spread the word about Ohio Pug Rescue. Here she is with Okie in the x-pen. Okie is a few pounds heavier than Eema, but not nearly as big as he looks in the picture.

The Gardens at Kingwood Center

As I mentioned in a previous post, Kingwood Center is a 47 acre former estate located in Mansfield, Ohio, that has been open to the public since 1953. I spent most of my time at the hook-in, but did manage to see a few of the gardens. Notice that the manor house has 6 chimneys. I hope to return soon to take a tour.

I love the detail of the brick work on the wall.

More Rugs ~ ~ ~

~ WELCOME ~

I took many, many pictures of the rugs at the Kingwood hook-in last Saturday, but many did not turn out too well. Alice said most of her pictures did not come out either. I guess we were both having a bad picture day. I thought I would share the best of them with you.

It was hard to believe this rug was not antique. I'm pretty sure it was hooked by Katie Allman, our hostest with the mostest.

I still have a few of the vintage/antique rugs that were displayed to show you and give you a mini tour of the beautiful gardens at Kingwood.

Kingwood Hook-in ~

Kingwood Center in Mansfield, Ohio, was the site of hook-in on Saturday. The hook-in is hosted by Katie Allman of Kidl'-de-Divey Woolens. She hosts this event at no charge to the participants and she is definitely the hostess with the mostest. She provided us with an assortment of gourmet coffee and teas, bottled water and sodas, pastries, fresh fruit, cheese & crackers, baked goods, etc. I'm so sorry I neglected to get a picture of her :(

Kingwood Center is a 47 acre former estate garden that has been open to the public since 1953. The gardens are magnificent and I'll share some of those in another post.

And here's Alice working on her funky cat rug she started at a Barbara Carroll workshop. Alice is the only one I know who can hook bling and purple in to a rug and still have it primitive looking.

Rhonda from My Glory Stars was working the registration table all day and greeting everyone with a smile. Here's the latest she's working on. That lady is a virtual hooking machine!
