Yard Stuff ~

My poor yard has been neglected for over a month.  First it was getting ready to vend at the outdoor show, then the sale at my house, and now another sale this Friday and Saturday at my friend's.  Plus life and just lots of other stuff.  That's my story and I'm sticking to it.  In my wildest dreams I never imagined retirement to be this busy.

Just some random pics from around the yard.  Most of them taken a couple weeks ago so the plants are not looking this good 😓

Note to self.  Stop buying wave petunias.  I buy them every year and they NEVER do good.

The autumn clematis smells heavenly.

My bubblegum petunias no longer looks like this.  Very leggy, and unlike Marly, I did not give mine a haircut.

Tell me it isn't so!

Google says this is a type of fungus, a puffball mushroom.  It is extremely dense and grass is growing through it.  (A puffball chia pet?)

Found growing from a neighbor's rotting tree stump.  Google says it is a cluster of golden oyster mushrooms.  The neighbor joked that someone who lives near her would eat them . . . and she hasn't seen the person for a while.  I am not a 'shroom eater, but if I were, I would be hesitant to eat any not purchased from a store!

Harper is doing great and is pretty much recovered from her spay.  I only have her wear the donut of shame at night.  She is almost ready for adoption.  It will be so hard saying good bye and happy life.  A few (or more tears) will be shed.

Her tail has THE BEST curl.

In my last post, I forgot to mention that the cigar boxes were all given away at the hook in as door prizes.

And too funny!  Supposedly over 5200 views on my last post and only 6 comments.  Sure would be nice to know what the heck is going on.

Next post, I promise to share hooking . . . or lack thereof!!!

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Yard Stuff ~

Just wanted to pop in ~ and not yet ready to share hook-y stuff!

We are so dry in northern Ohio.  I have a friend who lives almost 3 hours south and they have been getting lots and everything is lush and green.  My flowers are doing ok, but the grass is beginning to turn a lovely shade of brown 😢.  The only thing I water is the pots, wheelbarrow, etc, and fill the birdbaths.

The other evening about 7pm I arrived home to find this d*#% deer munching in my front garden.  I was maybe 20' away from her and didn't faze her in the least.

When she finally noticed me, decided to saunter over to one of my newly planted trees and take a couple bites before walking down the middle of the street to find someone else's garden to destroy.

These day lilies are very prolific and long blooming.

My dumpster dive find from a couple years ago.

Garden statuary.

The lightening rod (but not the ball) is from my parents' barn.

Abby cypress

Another day lily

Love the spotted flowers of the tiger lily.

Marly ~ here are my bubblegum 'tunias in the old baby bathtub.

The grasshoppers (or are they the crickets?) are chirping so loudly.  To me, that is the sound of fall, but puleeze, it is only mid July!!!

That's it for today!  We had some extremely hot and humid weather the last month, but when I got my electric bill today from running the A/C, I almost went in to cardiac arrest.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Around the Yard ~

Now that the mulch is all down (even though I probably could use a couple more bags ~ ain't happenin') I can concentrate on deadheading and just tidying up.

Random pics around the yard today . . . in no special order.  My yard is small, but lots of perennials and yard junk.

My helper today who wasn't much help 😁

Martha Washington geranium.  I have never purchased one before because of the cost, but well worth it with its prolific blooms.

Love my head planter ~ found at Michaels.

Sweet little lamb ~ a gift from a friend who know me well.  (Thanks, Laura!)

Hard to see, but the brick says OHIO.  An old glass insulator on a piece of rebar used as a hose guide.

Maypop, also know as purple passion flower.  So very pretty but so very invasive!

Lake Erie this morning.

Monday - Wednesday I am off to a hooking class with Donna Hrkman.  She is a true artist.  I will be a fish out of the water hooking with a smaller cut than I prefer, but I have heard she is such a wonderful teacher that I want the opportunity to take a class with her.  You can view some of her amazing rugs here.

Two of my all time favorites.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

What's Blooming ~

Trying to get ready for a crazy busy week so nothing much in the hooking department.  I did finish yet another door prize cigar box for the guild's fall hook in.  I didn't do anything special on the inside other than put some scrapbook paper on the bottom.

The yard is looking so pretty!  I love this time of year.

I did not have the luck Cathy from Acorn Hollow did with overwintering my geraniums.  This was one of my two successes but it has not yet bloomed.  Love the nut tin.

DSO reinforced my falling apart chair to get another year's use out of it.

An old chicken waterer missing its top.

Clematis.

Happy flowers.  Evening primrose.

And one happy bee.

Cool old tool box from a friend last year.  Only one or two of the plants survived the winter, but she was gracious and gave me plants from her yard to fill in.

One of my son's old workboots on an old tricycle.  I just love yard junk!

At Aldi's the other day, they had these gorgeous hydrangeas for only $14.99.  How could I resist that color?   Now to figure out where to plant it!

Michigan for the day tomorrow (early Father's Day celebration at DSO's son's house), Monday the annual "nun visit".  She will be 97 soon.  Then Tuesday and Wednesday a hooking class.  ARGH!!!  I am thankful for my crazy, busy life.

Must share.  DSO just stopped by for a minute.  This is the hotrod he built from a kit a few years ago 😁

And the sweetest passenger ever sitting on her custom made "perch" so she can see out the window.  (Yes, that perch makes her a** look fat 😉)
