I often wondered if you could cross stitch on rug hooking linen, but of course never tried. Jenny from the Wooly Horse answered that question for me. She had a couple examples, but I failed to take pictures. I grabbed a scrap piece of linen I had and gave it a whirl. It is being stitched with hand dyed sock weight yarn that Jenny dyes. The biggest alphabet I could find in any of my books/sampler charts was 11 stitches tall. I could have charted larger, but chose not to be bothered.
These are definitely horse stitches. Six crosses to the inch!
Jenny had pieces of linen that she had serged and were free for the taking. Here is the start of God Bless America.
Not sure what I will do with these, but they are fun.
Cataract surgery went well. Now it's the follow up visits and the eye drops for the next 3+ weeks. It is wonderful to no longer have blurry vision. As everyone says, colors are much more vibrant. And I am much more grey than I was pre-surgery 😁 I thought I was just blonde . . . lol!
Thanks so much for stopping by.
Pug hugs 😊

I tried doing cross stitch on left over scraps of linen a few years ago . Lori Brechlin from Not Forgotten Farm was doing it a while ago . I still got frustrating doing cross stitch and didn't get much done . I'm sticking with hooking ! Good to hear your vision is already better !!!
If you did those before your eye surgery, you did fantastic with blurry vision. They are cute and am sure you will find a use for them. But for me, I'll stick with hooking as I could hook those letters in half the time or less than it took for you to do the cross stitch.
So glad to hear surgery went well. Now I will definitely have to double check my typing/grammar before posting LOL. I really like the stitching on the hooking linen! Like MD said, I'm sure you will figure out what to do with them! (Hey...how about a cigar box topper?? ;-) ) I'm curious about the yarn that Jenny dyes that you're using.
Glad surgery went well. That stitching on the linen is quite nice. Love the patriotic stitching you chose. Would you share the yarn you are using for this. Janice
I like the look of your cross stitches on that linen and I’m happy to read your surgery went well! 🙂
I never thought to stitch on hooking linen- that is so cool! I am glad your cataract surgery was successful. I have been putting mine off...Your positive experience is reassuring to me.
