Happy Halloween ~

Happy Halloween, friends.  Another month bites the dust.  If you are a longtime reader, you may want to skip this post . . . or if you have CRS like I do, keep on reading 😁  Once again showing my Halloween decorations.  They are pretty much the same with only a couple new things.

My dining room cupboard.

The two little hard plastic decorations were bought at the same antique mall, though on different occasions from different dealers.

This papier mache pumpkin with wings was purchased at the antique mall yesterday.  Not old . . . and he'd make a fun hooked rug.

Fun skelly hooked rug purchased on eBay many years ago.

I've had the ceramic pumpkin since childhood.  The little scarecrow is one of my favorite pieces . . . painted by my mom.

Sweet mohair Halloween bear.

All the ceramic items were painted by my mom 💓

My painting skills are very limited, but in 2005 I was on a gourd painting kick.

Though there are almost no kids in the neighborhood, this evening I may welcome as many as 150 trick or treaters.  The babies in strollers or in their parents arms are not denied candy, nor are the much too old kids with no costume.  I grew up in what at the time was the country, so in order to trick or treat I had to go in to town.  One time I was asked where I lived, and when I told, I was denied a treat.  Isn't that just downright mean?  Oh, and did people give apples as treats in your neck of the woods?  Oh, how I hated getting an apple . . . 😀😁😆

Thanks so much for stopping by.
Pug hugs 😊
Lauren

I love the 1887 hanging piece which look like an applique; did you do it? Don't remember seeing that before. Never mind perusing your vintage Jack-O-Lanterns and getting jealous all over again, lol. I made a doll with a gourd head and still have it.

I was never denied treats but there were a few houses where the people weren't very nice so I didn't bother going there. Then there were those houses which were notorious for giving out fantastic treats.

Wow, your collection of vintage papier-mache Jack O' Lantern is amazing. You've been busy decorating.

When I was a kid, we used to get those molasses candy kisses and Caramel popcorn and sometimes, fudge or pulled toffee. I never experienced what you experience as we went house to house in our own little country neighborhood and we knew everyone. Our fun was to get the adults to try to recognize who we were.

We no longer have kids in our neighborhood and we live off the main road so we don't get anyone at the door. The schools used to have Halloween parties for the kids and we brought out treats there.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN
Hugs, Julia

WOW..your halloween decor is amazing!! I only have one pumpkin for my Halloween decorations...terrible! We only get about 13 kids on our street & I wish we had more! One of our crabby neighbors wouldn't give my daughter's friends candy because they weren't from the neighborhood...I felt horrible! I have dispised that neighbor ever since! Happy Halloween!!

Sigh....I never ever will tire of looking at your Halloween goodies....More than enough of a "treat" for this crow you have some of the very best Halloween treasures EVER! And shut that pie hole in your face: You have as many, if not more, papier mache JOLs as I do. Don't wanna hear it. And I love your new addition...you're right, it would make a cute rug. But...wait...you were at an antique mall??? Jealous again...I can't tell you the last time I was inside one. I am still trying to track down that hooked skelly pattern. Someday... And I also love looking "behind" your decor (if I can pull my eyes away long enough from all the glorious orange and black "things") and I don't believe I have ever seen that incredible stack of boxes??? Gah!!! As for trick-or-treaters, I've had 6...my hairdresser's 2 littles and my niece's 4 not-so-littles anymore...both moms I bribed. Sigh. I think it was the coffin with the ghoul in it that put out years ago....think it scared half the neighborhood kids. Oh wait, we don't have a neighborhood here in Nod LOL. I can't believe it's almost over. :-( ~et~

Still enjoy looking at your Halloween displays. More than what I did this year at home. All my energy went into the store displays. My mom use to make popcorn balls for Halloween as treats.
My top 3 favorite kiddos this year for costumes was a skunk, a teen dressed in black. with his headpiece a huge bomb and a cute lil Dalmatian. Runner up was just these group of kinds across the street from our store trick or treating at a house with a Biden flag. Once they got their candy, they all screamed; Let's Go Brandon! Loved it. Happy Halloween. PS best dressed dogs were a skeleton and one in an orange tutu. Janice

Well I hope those mean people who denied you a treat developed sensitive teeth and never could enjoy sweets again! The nerve! I LOVE your beautiful and almost historical display of Halloween decorations! Love the bowl of Beistle (it looks like) cardboard decorations. They were my favorites of all as a child. And I love your inclusion of all the trick or treaters!

Please don't apologize for posting your Halloween collection every year. I enjoy seeing it, even if it does fire up a bit of green streak of envy on your lantern collection. The bear is so cuuuuute!!

Living on a farm, I *think* I only ever got to go trick or treating once or twice, and even that was to grandma & grandpa who lived right next door, and maybe 1 or 2 neighbors. Certainly not taken to town for it! When we lived in town, at first we'd get about 50 kids, but as years passed and fewer kids lived on our street, it got less and less. In fact with ours being the only porch light on, I'd see cars stop at the end of the block for a few seconds, and drive on. I guess one house wasn't worth it. So the last few years we lived there, our light was off. We did keep a small treats supply on hand just in case one of DH's coworkers with small kids stopped by though. After moving out of town, we've never had a trick or treater - again the gas vs. treat ratio is far too low.

I am glad you had such a nice Halloween. One thing I noticed was how polite and sweet all of the kids who came to our door were. It was amazing. Sweet Moms and Dads too.
We lived in the country and people said the same thing to me as well.
I love seeing your decorations. What amazing collections you have.
I bet your house is just lovely to see.
I love that rug you have. So cute.

Don’t ever stop posting all of your amazing Halloween goodies. I admit to a little green eyed envy here. And I adore that new bat-pumpkin. We have no trick or treaters out here in the country as we are so far off the road, but when we were in town we had tons. We never denied anyone candy, but occasionally ran out and shut off the light as it got later. Hope you had a good one!’
