Almost Heaven ~

~ but cell phone hell!

This weekend was the 3 day retreat with Susan Feller of Ruckman Mill Farm.  It was held at the Peterkin Conference Center, nestled on 1400 acres in a valley outside of Romney, West Virginia.  When you are used to being "connected", it is hard to be without cell phone service and an Internet connection!  Cell phone reception was spotty at best.  We were told that on the front porch near the birdhouse or on the second floor in the men's room were the best chance to be able to make a call.  Thankfully since no men were present, the men's room was a ladies' room.  I don't normally make it a practice hanging out in a men's room :)  It really was quite comical everyone trying to make calls.  There was a problem with the WiFi, so no Internet either.  So to say I am behind on my blog reading is an understatement!
The setting was beautiful. Living in northern Ohio (which is very flat), it is always a treat to see the hills and mountains. A number of us took a 45 minute walk to the waterfall. The trail leading there was beautiful and the forest floor was coming alive.

I have lots of rugs to share with you so please stop back!

Procrastinator ~

pro·cras·ti·nate

v. pro·cras·ti·nat·ed, pro·cras·ti·nat·ing, pro·cras·ti·nates

v.intr.

To put off doing something, especially out of habitual carelessness or laziness.

v.tr.

To postpone or delay needlessly.

pro·crasti·nator n.

If you looked up the word procrastinator in the dictionary, you just might find my picture.  Agh!  This was the year I was going to get my taxes done early.  I'm talking February early.  Oh, the road to hell is paved with good intentions!  I started them in February, worked on them one day and then quit.  Now mind you, my taxes are very basic.  Just yesterday I got back to them.  They probably didn't take me an hour to finish.  I just hate when I do that.  I remembered to sign my returns (I actually forgot to do that one year), took them to work to make copies and even got one sealed in the envelope when the little light bulb went off.  Duh!  The IRS would frown upon a return without the W-2 attached.  Some days I really wonder where I left my mind.  Perhaps I can blame menopause???

Here's my brother Bill with Jake on Easter Sunday.  If you look really closely, you can see Jake is finally getting a front tooth!  He got his cast off yesterday and initially the orthopedic doctor said the elbow was not aligned properly and there was the possibility that Jake would need surgery.  Thankfully today's scan showed that all is well, but since the elbow is still healing, no soccer for three weeks.

I stopped back at hooker friend Jane's pre-sale and picked up a few more goodies.
Halloween . . .

Chocolate molds ~ one more and it's an official collection . . .

A miniature face jug . . .

And a few other goodies not pictured.

Friday hooker Melissa and I are headed to West Virginia (we are leaving at 4:30 am - ugh!) for a 3 day retreat with Susan Feller of Ruckman Mill Farm.  I am looking forward to it but dreading getting ready to go ~ maybe because I'm procrastinating and will wait until the last minute to get my act together.

Thanks for stopping by.

More Rugs ~

Today was the start of my three day weekend.  I was going to accomplish miracles, but that didn't happen.  Why am I not surprised?  Tomorrow will be busy ~ I get to take my favorite redhead to an Easter egg hunt in the morning and then to Eggland in the afternoon.  Luckily I'm not cooking on Easter Sunday and don't even have to bring anything.

Here are a few more rugs from the rug show at Punderson.  I have more pictures but the colors are just too poor to post.  Stop by Andrea's blog to see more ~ and her pics are so much better than mine :)

This rug is breathtaking!  So much detail!  Exquisite hooking.

Remind me to NEVER wear plaid britches!

Progress has been made on Auntie Peanut.  I've never hooked a face before so I've been a bit leery to even try this one but I must very soon!  The background hooked lighter than I thought it would, but I will learn to love it (and if I don't tell the recipient she will never know I had planned on something a little different).

Here's Annie just a few minutes ago sprawled out on the hooking room couch.  If she's not in the same room with me, she's generally doing something she shouldn't be doing!  Furbabies can be so much like little kids :)

Hugs and Happy Easter :)

The Rug Show at Punderson State Park ~

The first week in April is rug camp week at Punderson State Park in Newbury, Ohio.  Andrea and I took a little road trip to check out the rug show.  I did not make note of who hooked each rug, so I cannot give credit to most of the hookers.  Sorry :(

I was able to capture the true colors on some rugs . . .

Cindi Gay

. . . and on some rugs I failed miserably.  The colors of this rug were so muted and old looking.  This pattern is in my hooking closet waiting to be hooked.

This pattern is also residing in the hooking closet, though mine is the smaller version.

Donna Mixner

I LOVE this pattern (and the way it was hooked!).

The colors in the pumpkin rug are much richer than in my picture, but I wanted you to see the  owl with the quilly eyes and a needle felted nose . . .

Kris Miller

. . . and the cat with the needle felted eyes and whiskers and a beaded mouth.

I will have a few more rugs to share in my next post and an update on Auntie Peanut.
