The Rose Garden at Lakeview Park in Lorain, OH, is breathtaking. It was originally dedicated in 1932 and was sponsored by 17 organizations, including the Lorain Rotary. The shape of the garden is a wheel with eight spokes to match the Rotary emblem. There are 48 beds which currently contain just over 2,000 rose bushes.
The city used to maintain the park and rose garden, but with limited resources and staff, it was in a sad state of affairs. In 2006 an agreement was reached with the Lorain County Metropark system. They have the Midas touch. All the parks in the county they have taken over are incredible.
Twice monthly they have a volunteer day at the rose garden and this year I finally made it there (though I have to miss the next two).
The roses are simply beautiful. Here is a sampling from today.
Thanks so much for stopping by.
Pug hugs 😊

Oh my, those roses are beautiful.
Oh WOW!! Those roses are absolutely amazing! So many varieties! I've tried to grow roses and have failed miserably. The only roses I have now are the rambling old-fashioned kinda wild ones. Nothing I could pick and bring inside to enjoy. ~Robin~ (And, hey, I'm incredibly impressed that, with all the balls you are constantly juggling, you find time to volunteer there. Your title of GT has been restored. 🤣)
So beautiful! What a great place! Thank you for sharing
That's a lot of rose bushes. Lovely colors!
Gorgeous roses. I'll bet it smells heavenly there too.
What a great place to volunteer. I'm hoping that we will soon see roses in your own yard. The roses are so beautiful and so well maintained. Thanks for sharing.
Hugs

Gorgeous for sure! Cannot have roses bushes here. Too many gosh darn snakes. My fav is that yellow pink combo. So glad they are keeping it up once again. Would be such a loss to lose such beauty. Jsanice
