Followers?  Before the number once again disappeared, I had 373.

 

It warms the cockles of my heart to know that you still take time out of your busy day to read my blah, blah, blah.  I appreciate it more than you will ever know.  Thank you so much :)  I know blogging is dying a slow (or maybe not so slow) death, but I have no plans to stop.

Here is the wonderful Chinese auction item I won at the recent hook in.  The impeccable work of Lanna Omlor, sister of Lori Ann Corelis.  She made one at a class with Lori Ann and had enough supplies to make another which she so generously donated as an auction item.  That family is sure loaded with talent.

I also forgot to share this pattern that came home with me from Cedar Lakes rug camp.  The pattern is by Red Barn Rugs.  It is the rug with the hooked border that looks like braiding.  We'll see if I ever get brave enough to tackle that.

 

 

Also some of the wool that came home with me from rug camp, some purchased from Heavens to Betsy at the hook in and some from my Monday night hooking.  I think all hookers are addicted to wool.  I have more than I can use in three lifetimes, but that doesn't stop me from purchasing more.  We never have the right color, do we?

 

 

Thanks so much for stopping by.  A perfect day here in Ohio.  Getting a bit of edging done by the sidewalk, drive and along the curb.  One of my least favorite outdoor tasks.  Hopefully I will get it done tomorrow so I can start edging the gardens.

Western Reserve Hook In ~

Welcome, dear friends.  As we approach this Memorial Day holiday, remember why we are celebrating.  Never forget the sacrifices so many have made so that we may be living free in this great Land of ours.

Last Saturday our ATHA guild, Western Reserve Rug Hookers, put on their annual hook in.  Kudos to the committee.  Everything was first class.  200 hookers, fun vendors (including yours truly), food galore, great door prizes and raffles.  Truly Hookers' Heaven :)

 

Friend Melissa and I shared a booth, selling mostly jewelry.

I was so lucky!  I won the most wonderful item in the Chinese auction.  I forgot to take a picture and will share it with you later.

Rug Show ~

 

SO MUCH talent at the rug show at Cedar Lakes rug retreat.  I managed to take pictures of most of the rugs but may have missed a few. 

 

 

The background on the above rug was so interesting.

Have you heard of the Orphan Train?  I had not.  From Wikipedia ~ "The Orphan Train Movement was a supervised welfare program that transported orphaned and homeless children from crowded Eastern cities of the United States to foster homes located largely in rural areas of the Midwest. The orphan trains operated between 1854 and 1929, relocating about 200,000 orphaned, abandoned, or homeless children."  You can read more about it here.

The Gleaner.  Hooked by my teacher, Cathy Stephan.  Hard to get a good picture since it was flat on a table.

 

I wish the color had come out better in this picture.  I am considering it for a class next year.  Pattern by Maggie Bonanomi.

This was a really cool idea for a worm separator.  If you're as old as I am, you will remember that coffee was purchased in tins and the lids had to be removed with keys.  Six old coffee tins were screwed together and a handle added.  I may be on the lookout for some :)
