Detour ~

A little hooking detour, that is.  No real progress on my rug since I decided to hook some "Heavens to Betsy style" hearts.  Hooked with hand torn strips about 1" wide, they will be backed with wool patchwork  and lightly stuffed with wool snippets and a lavender pouch.  If you need lavender, check out eBay seller lavenderandotheritems.  I got a half pound of Washington state grown lavender for only $12.50 which included shipping.  I could smell it as soon as I opened my mailbox.  Heavenly.

Here are the hearts I worked on.  They hook up very quickly, being about 10 1/2" high x 9 1/2" wide.  The back will take longer than the hooking, but they look so nice when done.

The wools that I used.  Both of these were cut across the stripe.

On the heart to the left, I cut the wool across the plaid.  The wool on the right it did not matter how it was cut.

Stay tuned.  I will be having another give-away soon and one of these hearts will be going to a new home.

Another beautiful day on Ohio's north coast.  Sunny most of the day.  Currently 57*.  I am lovin' it :)

Thanks so much for stopping by.
Pug hugs :)
Lauren

  4. These are so pretty! Thanks for sharing which way you cut that wool. One more rug hooking lesson for me. I love them all, but especially the one with the red/cream plaid.

  15. Wonderful hearts and a fun project to do, to use up scraps. I know I have a lot of scrap backing pieces, need to make some small items with it.

  19. All the hearts are just so cute!! But that dark red one...I can hear it is asking to come live at my house! LOL

We've got 50 degrees here in central California, but sporadic rain. The sun peeks out to tease us, then back to rain. We've received 3 inches since Saturday evening.

  21. Hi Lauren,
Detours can be good things sometimes because they lead you to something good you might have missed!! The opposite can also be true, but we won't go there!!!
I still have lavender from WA that my daughter and I picked for her wedding three years ago and it STILL SMELLS WONDERFUL!!
Your hearts are just PERFECT and I love how you showed the wool you used with each one!
I think the weather here is colder today than it is in OH!! We have had LOTS of rain and the sun finally came back out today!!
    Enjoy your week!
    Heart Hugs~
