Celebration XXV

Not much "hooky" productiveness here.  I am vending at two hook-ins in September, so I'm trying to get things made.  Work and life has been stressful.  Hopefully that will get better soon.

I did manage to hook this green pumpkin using hand torn strips.  It will be finished "Betsy style" with a patchwork back.  I really do like the finished product, but as everyone knows, finishing is not my forte.

I thought I would show the wool used.  Not my usual color, but I do like that wool.  One of those "poison" colors.  I also wanted to show how far apart the hooked rows are when using wide strips.  Mine are somewhere between 3/4" to 1".  I don't measure exactly ~ I just snip and tear.

So much eye candy in this book.  If you're not a hooker, you will be in awe of the talent.  If you're a hooker, you will be inspired.

I received two copies of Celebration XXV.  Rug Hooking Magazine sent a second copy because some of the original ones had issues with the binding coming loose.  Mine is just fine, and since I don't need two copies, I will offer one to you.  Entering is simple.  Leave a comment on this post or send me an email with give-away in the subject.  I do apologize to my Canadian friends, but this offer is open to those in the US only.  I know the postage to Canada would be totally outrageous after what it cost me to send a small pendant.  So sorry :(  I will choose a winner in a week.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Must get back to making necklaces.

Pug hugs :)
Lauren

  8. Good morning,
Love the pumpkin in the green. Working on my new
rug. Like I said, good thing I like the primitive look
as that is all I am capable of, so far. I DO love the
Hartman hook. What a difference it makes.

  9. I like the poison green pumpkin! Next hooking project I am tearing the wool. I've always used a cutter before so I want to try tearing and also sewing my binding tape on first like I have seen some people do. Thanks for the chance to win the book!

  10. Here I am, trying to get back to being a better commenter, and you offer a giveaway. Good timing on my part. lol! Love your pumpkin rug. Love that wool and love seeing it before it's made into strips. It's always interesting to see the effect a plaid has on the appearance.

  13. I would like a chance to win that extra copy of your Celebration. A local guild member has a rug in there and I would like to read her story - of course I watched her hook the rug for a year or more. such dedication. Good luck with your vending and your green pumpkin is pretty cool ! amazing how that hand torn stuff works

  14. Fun and interesting to see the wool people use in their hooking and I should do that more myself, thanks for the prod. I don't subscribe to Celebration so to receive you booklet of eye candy would be delightful.

Hope your stress ends SOON and you make lots of moola at the show.

  15. I'm loving your green pumpkin. So much for traditional pumpkins, now you see them in blue, green & white. I'm finishing my Sauder rugs & then on to some fall themed rugs. Pumpkins, leaves, jack-o-lanterns Oh My! I want to do some torn strips also, sure helps the hooking part go fast!! I hope your stress level has calmed down some & you are able to enjoy some hooking!! Wondering what shows you are going to be vending at? I'm headed to Camby (Woolkeepers) next weekend.

  20. So sorry That I missed this post. My life has been rather hectic to say the least but I had to come and see what you were talking about.
I for one can understand sending only to the US. The postage is ridiculous and I can't blame you one bit.

I certainly would not want you to be paying this much money again.

Your pumpkin is just so soft looking just like that heart you sent me. I still love it so. A very soft green color.

Hope that your long weekend is a blast.
    Hugs,
    JB
