Inspiration ~

Betsy, of Heavens to Betsy fame, was the guest presenter at the Amish Country hook-in.  Last summer I attended Betsy's retreat (if you are looking for a wonderful retreat in a beautiful location, be sure to check in to check it out) at Shaker Village in Kentucky.  Betsy is so down to earth and believes there are no hooking rules that MUST be followed.

These are too sweet!  Betsy gave a little demo on how she does her patchwork backs.

Miss Kitty was stuffed with lavender and smelled heavenly.

Isn't this a fun rug.  It is much more muted in person.  She did a braiding demonstration showing us how to add a braided edge to a rug.

Even though I've not yet hooked the cat pattern I bought at the retreat last summer, I had to add this one to my stash.

And how could you attend a hook-in and not come home with a few yummy wools?

Saturday I am off to another hook-in, this one in Ann Arbor, MI.  In my next post, I'll show the progress I've made on my Magdalena runner.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
Pug hugs :)
Lauren

  4. I love the shaped rabbit and cat, something I have been wanting to try myself, maybe for gifts for next Christmas. Wools are always fun to see and buy and those are great to go with your new pattern.

  9. I've just finished hooking two little hearts and I was wondering how to do the backs so I can stuff them - I like Betsy's patchwork method. You're so lucky to have several hook-ins to attend Lauren - we have one a year and feel fortunate to have that! Thanks for the photos!

  10. Hi, Lauren,
Lucky you to get to go to all these fun events! I just love that cat and mouse rug, the background is so different and interesting. I am working on the antique repro kit I got from Maria, but have run out of lots of the wool, and I'm not near done. I have written her yet, I'm worried that maybe I hook too high? Maybe I have over compensated from when I hooked too low. Looking forward to seeing your Magdalena runner...
    Hugs,
