Four Down, One to Go ~

I've finished, I mean really finished, four of my five pumpkins hooked with hand torn strips.  I've finished them all "Betsy style", as in Heavens to Betsy.  A friend is vending at an antique show this weekend in Avon, Ohio, and I'm taking them to see if any will sell.  I've never tried selling any hooked pieces before so wish me luck!

Here's the fifth pumpkin that doesn't yet have the patchwork back sewn on.  It looks much better in person ~ not as "washed out".

I bought my first mum a couple weeks ago at the grocery store.  It is really quite large and was only $3.99.  I think it adds a little cheer to the front porch.  I will need to get more soon, but I don't want to rush the fall season.  I am NOT one of those wishing that fall get here soon :)

Happy Friday to you :)
Thanks for stopping by!
Pug hugs :)
Lauren

  2. I bet you sell those in a heart beat!! They are so stinkin cute. I love the backs as well, what a neat idea.
I haven't bought any mums yet as my red geraniums are still gorgeous and blooming on my front porch. No fall decor out either, but your pumpkins give me a yearning to some out.

  6. Your pumpkins are lovely and I like the texture, the colors and the patch work backing. I'm sure that they will go like hot cakes. Good Luck but I don't think that you'll need to worry.

I'm not in a rush for Fall either and want to savour the little that is left of Summer one day at a time, like sandals, shorts and sleeveless , more daylight just to name a few. Every day brings it's own delight if we take time to just savour it.

    Have a great weekend selling.
    Hugs, JB

  11. They are so cool! I'm not giving in to mums just yet! In fact, my cheap self may just stick her yellow marigolds in pots and pass them off.

  17. Your pumpkins are great, Lauren! No problem selling them, I'm sure. I want to try tearing wool, too.

I just bought mums this week, also...I'm happy to see Fall coming because it means cool weather, but I confess that I am dreading winter.

  20. I admire anyone who does rug hooking. It is such a beautiful art. And you should do very well selling your pumpkins...they will probably go like...well...pumpkins!
    I love all things primitive.
Nice to meet you as this is my first time here.

  24. You did an amazing job on those backs, Girlfriend....Do you handsew the pieces together or use a machine??? (Yeah - Like I'm going to get around to something like that anytime soon!!) Love the mums - wow - what a steal....They have mums out here too, but if you find one for half that size at 3x the price, you consider yourself lucky. I picked one up a few weeks ago and am sorry I did - with the heat, it's already spent. Boo hoo. Robin
