The Rugs of Patty Yoder ~

Patty Yoder was one of the featured hookers at Rug Hooking Week at Sauder Village.  Yoder did not start hooking until she was almost 50.  She hooked for thirteen years before her her death in 2005.  In that time she created forty four "masterpieces". 
Her rugs are incredible.  She also published, in 2003, a children’s book called The Alphabet of Sheep, based on her rug series of the same name.

Animals that resided on her farm.

    Love the rugs, especially the sheep with the pumpkins. That is one talented rug hooker. Looks like a great show.

    Her rugs really took my breath away. My girls' favorites were the sheep of many colors and the butterfly sheep. Thanks for posting these pictures!

    I love the pics and love the Pugs. Wish I could have gone to this show. My friend went and got many of the same photos as you. Don't you just love the ewe with all the other ewes within? Awesome hookers.

    I saw those rugs not long after she passed away at the round barn in vermont. They are simply amazing I am so blown away by the lady in the last picture on the bottom I took about five pictures of that. you can see the folds in her dress and her face is so real it looks like she could turn her head and talk to you.

    Patti was one of my very first rug-hooking heroines...Her pieces are incredible....And she always gave me hope knowing she didn't start hooking until she was - well, shall we say, more "mature"?     patty was my aunt---she was an amazing artist and did many other things besides her rugs---she was a talented painter and she used to make these amazing dolls out of many different patterns of material and buttons....thank you for showing her beautiful rugs for so many people to see!
