The Rugs of Patty Yoder ~

Patty Yoder was one of the featured hookers at Rug Hooking Week at Sauder Village.  Yoder did not start hooking until she was almost 50.  She hooked for thirteen years before her her death in 2005.  In that time she created forty four "masterpieces".
Her rugs are incredible.  She also published, in 2003, a children’s book called The Alphabet of Sheep, based on her rug series of the same name.

Animals that resided on her farm.

I hope you've enjoyed these rugs.  I know I did!

  8. I love the pics and love the Pugs. Wish I could have gone to this show. My friend went and got many of the same photos as you. Don't you just love the ewe with all the other ewes within? Awesome hookers.

  9. I saw those rugs not long after she passed away at the round barn in vermont. They are simply amazing I am so blown away by the lady in the last picture on the bottom I took about five pictures of that. you can see the folds in her dress and her face is so real it looks like she could turn her head and talk to you.
so glad you got to see it.

  12. Patti was one of my very first rug-hooking heroines...Her pieces are incredible....And she always gave me hope knowing she didn't start hooking until she was - well, shall we say, more "mature"? You are so fortunate to have seen her works in person....I just drool over photos.....Thanks so much for allowing us to share your experience vicariously!! Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin

  14. Thanks for sharing the rug photos, Lauren. I don't know how she achieved that "clear as a photo" look in her rugs, but it is amazing!
