There is NOTHING delicate about the size of my blanket stitches. I was asked what I use to stitch with. I use #3 crochet thread (off white) and dye it in the same dye bath as the wool. It's a little thick, but it works.
I finished eight little penny mats and I am DONE with pennies. Hallelujah :) I was getting mighty tired of them but think they came out pretty good if I do say so myself.
I drew up a pattern for a hooker friend and I said she could pay me in a small piece of paisley. Well . . . I received this huge piece and she also made a most generous donation to the rescue my dear Ellie came from. Liz, thank you from the bottom of my pea pickin' little heart.
Not much else going on. Another hump day almost over. Have you noticed how the days are getting shorter? I don't like it ~ not one little bit. When I got to work this morning, the motion sensor light was on. It hasn't been on in months :(
Thanks so much for stopping by.
Pug hugs :)

Wonderful little penny mats, Lauren! The paisley is a beautiful piece. A friend gifted me with a piece too but I've been too chicken to try it. Lori
ReplyDeleteoh that is a great piece of paisley. I love your penny rugs. That is the worst part of winter is the darkness! I could handle the cold better if it was light.

Very spiffy penny mats ! I really like your beautiful wool colors ;)
ReplyDeleteThe days are getting shorter and I'm beginning to see stray leaves in my lawn.
(Which makes me pretty happy !)

I like the heavier thread. And yes, the dreaded darkness is coming earlier every day!
ReplyDeleteI like your penny rugs. I do like that look of the heavier thread. The early darkness seems to early. Not to mention getting up at dark again.
ReplyDeleteI love your paisley. Yes, I am so glad September is almost here. I bet you are too;)
OMG woman, looks like you received an expience piece of beautiful paisley. Your penny rugs are awesome, love the look of them but think I hate doing pennies more than binding a rug.
ReplyDeleteI love your penny rugs - I have tried sewing with a heavier thread than the #5 perle and it hurts my already arthritic fingers so I gave it up.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful piece of paisley!!!
Karen
Wonderful pennies and I Like the look of the thicker thread. I got a circle cutter, so I need to start making pennies again.

Hi Lauren,
ReplyDeleteLove your penny rugs and like the thicker thread too! I tend to use whatever seems to match or what I have on hand!! Great idea about dyeing the thread with the wool!!
Your paisley is just gorgeous and I have been on the watch for some, but so far, no such luck!! I know you will enjoy using it!!!
We are still soooo hot here and I hate to admit that I am looking forward to cooler temps!!
Hope you enjoy your weekend!
Heart Hugs~

Evening Lauren, love your penny rugs, they are wonderful. Great piece of paisley and great friend to donate to rescue.Blessings Francine.
ReplyDeleteWell, if yours are horse stitches, mine are elephant stitches....and wonky ones at that! Your handwork is BEAUTIFUL Lauren...and I adore the sweet lil' penny mats. Gorgeous paisley!! My neighbor friend (the hooker designer) uses paisley a lot in her pieces. I would feel that it would be a complete waste in one of my pieces... Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin
