The Rug Show at Punderson State Park ~

The first week in April is rug camp week at Punderson State Park in Newbury, Ohio.  Andrea and I took a little road trip to check out the rug show.  I did not make note of who hooked each rug, so I cannot give credit to most of the hookers.  Sorry :(

I was able to capture the true colors on some rugs . . .

Cindi Gay

. . . and on some rugs I failed miserably.  The colors of this rug were so muted and old looking.  This pattern is in my hooking closet waiting to be hooked.

This pattern is also residing in the hooking closet, though mine is the smaller version.

Donna Mixner

I LOVE this pattern (and the way it was hooked!).

The colors in the pumpkin rug are much richer than in my picture, but I wanted you to see the  owl with the quilly eyes and a needle felted nose . . .

Kris Miller

. . . and the cat with the needle felted eyes and whiskers and a beaded mouth.

I will have a few more rugs to share in my next post and an update on Auntie Peanut.
Pug hugs :)
Lauren

  1. Wow, Lauren,

Those rugs are all so neat. You must have had a great time there. :)

I haven't hooked a rug in ages. The one that I did make was in no way as good as yours and these.

Have a good evening and a great Thursday.

    Take care, Janet W

  10. Rug shows are always so much fun. I notice that most of the rugs are primitive for the exception of Cindi Gay's dog. I love how she hooked him. He looks so beautiful. The eyes looks real. Thanks for sharing. JB

Could you tell me what kind or size of rug hook I should buy? I don't know where to start, I have all of the worms I won from you and I am so excited to get started!

  13. My DF that went with Mom and I to Sebring goes to Punderson every year - you should enroll as a student some time. I think they do a lot of primitive hooking at that camp - the rug photos were so great - wonderful to see others wonderful rugs. Hope you have a great Easter ! mel

  16. Hi, Lauren,
Thanks so much for taking all these pictures and posting them. I know some rug hooking friends of mine from Beavercreek, Ohio are probably up there. Is this when they have classes, too? It all sounds like so much fun.
