The Things I Learned at Hooking ~

Tonight was hooking at That'll Do Farm. I learned two things this evening. Well, actually more than two, but only two that I can talk about on the blog.
First ~ in Cleveland there is a man named Buck who teaches yoga ~ naked yoga. It's called Buck Naked Yoga. Okay, it's for guys only, but somehow, no matter how buff the guy, I can't believe it's very attractive.
Second ~ there are Christmas ornaments called "pornaments". The example we saw was a glass ornament of two deer ~ doing the "dirty deed".
Honest. This is for real. I'm not clever enough to make this stuff up.
I think I need to get out more often :)
On to the hooking...
That's Jane in the foreground just getting started on a geometric. Heidi is in the red sweater and in the back is Andrea who so graciously invites us to hook at the farm.
A close up of the start of Jane's rug.
Farmer Gal Marilyn working on a needle felted...
...sheep. Isn't it just too cute? She is using cria tips which is baby alpaca fleece from their first haircut. I just love that wild look!
Andrea originally had needle felted her sheep, but didn't like the look, so she was hooking the sheep with unspun sheep locks. Only one more to go!
Okay. So I'm trying to get my hooking mojo back, but it wasn't going to happen on my horse rug. I drew up this little cat mat. To most of you I'm sure it doesn't look like much hooking, but for me it was monumental!
Thank you so much for stopping by and please come again soon.
Whatever you chose to do on New Year's Eve, please be safe and watch out for all the crazies out there.
Pug hugs :)
Lauren

  1. Ummm - not sure about that "buck naked yoga" - Kinda makes me think of that show that travels around the country - the guys are from Australia - and it's called "Puppetry of the Penis" - just what it sounds like - Yep they twist into puppets ! LOL Heard an interview on the radio years ago with the guys and had to look at the website to believe it! Anyway - the rugs look great and wow you got a lot done in one night - so are you feeling like hooking some more now?

I wish I had been there to hear what you can't talk about on the blog! LOL
The girls are doing such great work! The little needle felted sheep are wonderful. I've lost my mojo for hooking lately too, but need to get serious here pretty soon.......update on my blog soon about the class I'm teaching!
I hope I can sleep tonight without dreaming about naked yoga! LOL

  8. LOL! That must have been some kind of hook-in!!! I'm laughing, and thinking- what couldn't she tell on the blog??? Hehehe!
Your little kitty mat is cute. A good way to get back from the hooker's block.
p.s. It's probably not a good idea to sign up for any yoga classes till it gets warmer out!

  9. That felted sheep is wild and crazy in a good way.
A lot of good hooking was going on there.
Your kitty mat is cute and a good way to ease back into hooking.
Naked yoga and pornaments, never would have dreamed it. I guess if I had dreamed it that would have been considered a nightmare.

Have a happy and safe new years.

  10. OMG that sounds like my kind of hook-in. Seriously...Buck Naked Yoga....that is an image I will have to drink out of my head! It's weirdly gross yet intriguing lol
That sheep cracked me up. It looks like me first thing in the morning before I get out the flat iron.
Now I have to go shopping for pornaments. Hahahaha

Nothing shocks me anymore after reading about vajazzling (that's decorating your lady parts with rhinestones)
Can you imagine explaining to your grandson what exactly the two deer are doing in the pornament?? LOLOLOLOL

  14. I want to be on record that I did not start either of the two above mentioned conversations. That being said, I should also mention that I was the one laughing the hardest when both topics were addressed!!! Yes, we learn quite a lot at hooking. Have a safe and happy new year and I hope Santa brings you a pornament next year for Christmas.
